Issue
When I have my hot end heated, I use the printer UI to extrude some length of filament so that I can calibrate my e-steps. The printer successfully extrudes material, but it's incredibly slow - As in it might take a minute to push 5mm of plastic. Prior to my fixing & upgrades, that length of plastic would be pushed in just a few seconds.
Background
I recently fixed my Ender3v2 modified with a Biqu H2 direct drive extruder after it had sat for a long time after having a very bad leak and clog. I had to replace quite a bit of hardware as part of my fix. I replaced:
- Heat block
- Heat cartridge
- Thermistor
- Heat break
- Nozzle
- (Added) Filament runout sensor
With the update, I also updated to the latest MRISCO professional firmware (based on Marlin) with support for my CR-Touch, Linear Advance, and Input Shaping. I think that the firmware before didn't support Input Shaping.
Before the upgrade, I didn't think of writing down and saving all my printer settings (Like motor acceleration and max speeds). I was able to calibrate my e-steps by waiting a very long time for it to push 100mm of plastic to do the math - but I can't think of how my upgrades would make my extruder so slow. The X, Y, and Z motors are all moving the same as they did before.
Attempted troubleshooting
- I dramatically increased the max speed and max acceleration settings for the extruder motor much higher - but that didn't seem to impact the speed much, if at all.
- I tried asking the extruder to move without any filament loaded and it was also incredibly slow.
- I have not tried using Octoprint to send commands yet, and I haven't tried sending a print file to the printer yet.
