#Ender 3 Pro Sprite hotend, replaced dead thermostat, now temp reads 15°C low

Hi all,

I got a nasty glob on my nozzle a while back that required some effort to remove and in the process a thermostat wire got damaged. I ordered new ones (and block, and heater) and rebuilt the hotend.

It works, it prints, but the nozzle temp at idle shows rather lower than the bed temp. This wasn't the case before I replaced the thermostat. I looked and discovered that the manufacturer on this one was slightly different from the one I had before, so I updated the line in the config that tracks the model of the thermostat, scp'd it, and restarted. No change. PID tuned, no change.

What do y'all think is my next troubleshooting step?

Thanks! 🙏🏻

It sounds like you've already taken some good troubleshooting steps. Since updating the thermostat model in the configuration and PID tuning didn't resolve the issue, your next step could be to double-check all the connections to ensure they are secure and correct.

Additionally, you may want to verify that the new thermostat you received is indeed compatible with your 3D printer model and that there are no subtle differences causing the temperature discrepancy. If you have access to a multimeter, you could also check the resistance of the new thermostat to make sure it matches the expected values for your printer.

If the issue persists, it may be worth reaching out to the manufacturer or online forums for further advice specific to your printer model. Good luck with your troubleshooting!

That's actually a good idea, to check the resistance with a multimeter. I wonder what the reference value should be...

Okay, turned out I'd bought two sets of replacement thermostats and I had installed one from the set with no information about its sensor type, so I swapped it to one from the other set, which was sensor_type: NTC 100K MGB18-104F39050L32 and all good now
