I have replaced fans in motherboard and hotend. not the cooling fan since it seemed to not be too loud to me. but I notice even at idle that my PSU makes a ton of noise. I'm looking for a solution to quiet down my PSU to as quiet as it can be, and as safely as possible. I don't know if i should look into replacing the whole psu or if there is a mod that isn't too hard to do, to replace its fan, while keeping it as cool as it needs to be. I have a feeling it has a cheap knock off meanwell psu, whatever ender 3 v2 neo has in at stock. thanks

AI Help
Replacing the fan in your PSU is a common and relatively simple mod that can help reduce noise. You'll want to make sure to use a fan with appropriate specifications to ensure proper cooling. However, modifying the PSU can be dangerous and may void warranties. There are aftermarket silent PSU options available if you prefer to replace the whole unit. Be sure to research and follow safety precautions when working with electrical components.

i want a non ai reply. thanks
Meanwell psu are loud. They are industrial powersupply. Rock solid, but not optimised to be quiet. Some replace the internal fan, some install a bigger external blower to replace the internal fan. There is many ways. The internal fan replacement sacrifice airflow, so is not great.
so whats best solution you think.
PSU Modding: DO NOT ATTEMPT
Modifying the PSU is highly discouraged because there is an immense risk of lethal electrical shock.
The capacitors in there hold enough power to easily kill you if you touch the wrong part.
It is not worth opening a PSU. DO NOT ATTEMPT

just forget trying i guess
Just avoid it unless you really know what you are doing
only thing i did once like this is open a lcd monitor and replace the motherboard near a psu it has
and also replace caps on xbox original
I personally added some stuff to my psu but I would not do it again
maybe i can find a service that can do it for me so i dont have to worry about risks
Or get a good fanless one
they sell one i get it. i just dont know of any
is this good u think.
211.2W 24V 8.8A Single Output Switchable Power Supply 24 Volts 8.8 Amps Features • AC input range selectable by a switch • Withstand 300 VAC surge input for 5 seconds • No load power consumption • 1U low profile • High operating temperature, up to 70°C • Protections: Short circuit / Overload / Ov...
some things to consider:
keep the same voltage as the original power supply
make sure the new power supply has the same or higher power rating (wattage/amps)
be prepared for the new power supply to either not fit perfectly or not be able to be installed exactly the way the original one is (bolt patterns can be different, and the whole power supply can be entirely different dimensions)
is the noise worth the hassle?
