Hello guys!!

I printed these two guys a few months ago ago and I finally have time to work with them again!

I was suggested to prime them since they are a cosplay which will be used a lot but I’m not sure where to start including what primer I should but..

I’ve done all the sanding! But how many coats of primer should I use before I start painting?

I would also like to know if I should prime on top of the paint

AI Help

Hello! I'm glad to hear you're working on your cosplay project.

For priming 3D printed models, it's recommended to use a spray primer that is suitable for plastics. You can find primers specifically designed for 3D printing, which adhere well to the surface and provide a smooth base for painting.

As for the number of coats, it's generally recommended to apply 2-3 thin layers of primer, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next one. This will help ensure an even and solid base for painting.

Once you've primed your models and painted them, you shouldn't need to prime on top of the paint. Just make sure to apply a clear protective coat or varnish over the painted surface to help protect the paint job from wear and tear.

If you have any more questions or need further assistance with your cosplay project, feel free to ask.
