#Difficulty compiling firmware in Visual Studio Code

Trying to compile firmware for my creality 4.2.7 (is a very old ender with modifications). I've installed visual studio code and platformIO but every tutorial I'm trying to follow their platformio.ini file is already completely filled out and they skip over this part, just saying I need to change it with "default_envs = STM32F103RE_creality".

I've obviously skipped a step but have been banging my head against a wall for like an hour trying to work this out to no end... the wizard makes me pick a board up front and even picking the wrong one so as to populate the ini file then change it leaves me in a very different place to other files I've seen.

ANY direction you can offer would be appreciated.

It sounds like you might be missing the proper configuration in your platformio.ini file for compiling the firmware for your Creality 4.2.7 board. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you out:

  1. Open your platformio.ini file in Visual Studio Code.

  2. Add the following line at the top of the file:

[env:STM32F103RE_creality]
  1. Add the following lines below it to specify the platform, board, and framework:
platform = ststm32
board = genericSTM32F103RE
framework = arduino
  1. Save the file and try compiling the firmware again.

By adding these lines to your platformio.ini file, you should be able to properly configure the compilation settings for your Creality 4.2.7 board. If you encounter any errors or issues during compilation, feel free to ask for further assistance.
