clog-a-tron
full electronics pic
so many unused connections on this board wtf
this seems to be the wifi card
lmao
i gotta somehow change the firmware to make it so it thinks the z height is shorter than it is
bc my new leveling knobs are too long
@elfin depot you seem like you would know this stuff
id start with this
and if it doesnt work or if you dont wanna waste a lot of time, then just do electronics swap
im not on klipper yet
not even z offset
when it homes the leveling knobs hit the base
so i extended the little pin that hits the z endstop
but now when i click the raise bed button it slams into the hotend
oh wait it's a bed dropper
ive got no clue about ultimaker frimware shit tbh
I barely know how to navigate marlin
No sorry
But good luck seems like an interesting project
(but also a hard one cause flashing firmware on an ultimaker will probably be a pain)
yeah… i’m tempted to just buy a board and flash it with klipper
Fuck I kinda really want one now
Looks like you can insulate it and jack up the temp pretty good
it doesnt have a chamber heater, but if you mean the bed temp yeah ig
@elfin depot mine had missing leveling knobs but im gonna try to grab some off the other ultimakers
an ultimaker?
Yeah
why
Chuck some insulation and a heater in there and see
yeah but why not on any other way cheaper way easier to mod printer
i got this ultimaker for free
nothing cheaper than that (unless they pay you to take it)
Most won't be easier and I wasn't considering the price
i also got mine for free thank god
Just the fact that I want one
well not free but practically free
lol
although ultimaker kinematics are a beauty to look at
eh
Well not anymore
how dare you hate on CroXY

any updates?
not really. i have some oem leveling knobs now, but no leveling springs
Hi all, I know Ultimaker 3 has open source hardware but my question is... Can I modify the UM3 firmware for changing some parameters or programming methods? I'm very interested in buying this 3D printer, but only If I can customize my own firmware (<>). Thank you!
you can apparently SSH into it
yeah i did that
well I think you'd have to run some sort of non-persistent OS in memory and then manually write the firmware to flash memory
there was a way to do this to install a third party OS on oracle cloud compute servers
well
lemme find it, you could abuse the same method
though if you aren't comfortable with it, you cld end up bricking it without knowing how to restore
im gonna klipperize it
so I think you just install alpine, and then dd the klipper firmware
and (presumably) alpine runs completely in-memory so it won't be affected by the DD
though if this runs linux, it doesn't seem like a generic microcontroller, I have no idea if klipper supports it
im just gonna do a mainboard swap
cool, if this mainboard is powerful enough you could always use it to run the klipper host
