My friend asked if i could figure this out for him. He said that his printer fails to print at a certain point then starts printing again causing the object to be in pieces. I have never seen this before so im not sure what the issue is or what could cause this. He told me everything on his printer seems fine and its not binding anywhere

It sounds like your friend is experiencing layer shifting during the print. This can be caused by various factors such as loose belts, a misaligned print bed, a clogged nozzle, or even a power supply issue. I recommend checking the printer's belts for proper tension, ensuring the print bed is level, checking the nozzle for any obstructions, and making sure the power supply is stable. Sometimes recalibrating the printer or checking the slicer settings can also help resolve this issue.
