I need to dry this PETG, but the heat from my dehydrator is warping the cardboard spool. What should I do?

If the heat from the dehydrator is warping the cardboard spool, it's best to avoid using it for drying PETG. Instead, you can try using alternative methods to dry the filament:

  1. DIY filament dryer: Create an enclosure with a low heat source, such as a light bulb or a low-temperature heater, and place the filament inside. Monitor the temperature to avoid overheating.

  2. Oven drying: Preheat your oven to a low temperature (around 50-60°C or 120-140°F). Place the filament on a baking sheet or a non-warping surface and let it dry for a few hours. Be cautious not to exceed the recommended temperature for PETG.

Remember, always follow the manufacturer's guidelines for drying temperatures and times and exercise caution to prevent any damage to the filament or spool.

Its cardboard, can't you bend it back after drying?

The glue on the spool was starting to come undone

Take anything that can make a good seal, i use a zip lock, and put the spool in it and put every sical gel packet you have and put it in there, then seal it up.

master spools also have the nice feature that you can buy spool-less filament in some stores to get a bit of a discount
