I recently printed a part on my qidi tech x plus three, and while the first layer looks fine, the top surface finish is very odd, as shown in the attached photo. While the printer is printing, it makes odd, almost grinding sounds. Any ideas or troubleshooting steps?

Based on the description and the attached photo, it seems like you may be experiencing layer adhesion issues or possibly extruder calibration problems. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can take:

  1. Check the filament: Ensure that your filament is not tangled and is of good quality. Inferior or tangled filament can cause irregular extrusion and affect the surface finish.
  2. Clean the nozzle: Remove any clogs or debris from the nozzle that could be interfering with filament flow.
  3. Adjust the bed leveling: Make sure the bed is properly leveled to ensure proper adhesion. A misleveled bed may cause the first layer to adhere well, but subsequent layers may have poor adhesion and result in a rough top surface.
  4. Temperature settings: Experiment with different temperatures for your filament and the bed. Adjusting these settings may improve layer adhesion and surface finish.
  5. Check the belts and rods: Ensure that the belts are tight and the rods are properly lubricated. Loose b...

No mods, stock firmware, the included PLA, qidi slicer, I've tried unclogging, relevelling, and doing resonance compensation again.
