Best friend's favorite weapon across any game is this dual scythes set from Dark Souls 3. Got a resin and fdm printer recently and thought I'd try my hand at making a custom desk set of them for him for Christmas.

Modified an stl I found of the larger scythe to create the small scythe, printed the scythe staffs with a mixture of resin, then darkened it a bit with some black resin and printed the blade of the larger scythe. Then to try and capture the ice of the offhand scythe, I printed the second blade from clear resin.

All those parts came out good and after iterating through some designs in fusion 360 for a display platform, I made it in to that and the storage case.

I am new to a lot of this and this community helped a ton in figuring out how to do this, especially the resin help. Yall are awesome and I'm stoked with how it came out!

I don't have the ability to paint anything so this is final design, and I think it's good enough to pass as at least a sentimental "I tried my best" kinda gift for him.

Appreciate you and your kindness through process! This was a major learning project to get my head wrapped around blender, fusion 360, and printing. This stuff is freakin fun

Those are awesome 🤯🤯🤯

#

Was blender fairly easy to pick up? All the shortcuts and menu options seem kinda daunting ngl 😅

i tried to learn blender so many times

I would say I am beyond noob with blender right now hahaha

#

I did the donut tutorial series from...blender guru? The guy who makes all the donut tutorials haha

#

I was less concerned with scenes and such though so I only went as far as the modeling portion

I got you :>>>>

then from there I discovered a few vids on using it for 3d printing and learned how to use boolean a lot better and clean up models

#

I come from a CAD background though with stuff like sketchup, vectric vcarve pro, etc so blender melted my mind for a while and still does but for my purposes in using boolean and cleaning up mesh files for 3d printing, I am a lot better than I was

I got you! I’ll look into it again :>>>> I think I tried to get in through the videos you were talking about but I never could sit down and actually get through lol

Basically, I have decided blender is my go to for messing with meshs because it is just really good for that. Anything requiring specific measurments and functional design like the carrying case/display I much prefer fusion 360 though
