is there a way to mod the Mega S to have a magnetic print bed? (I got one used from a colleague of mine and am new to 3d-Printing, however, I like to tinker with stuff). What are some pros and cons of a magnetic buildplate and is it even worth it?

Yes, it is possible to add a magnetic print bed to the Mega S 3D printer. There are a few different methods you can try:

  1. Replace the existing build plate with a magnetic one: Look for magnetic build plates that are compatible with the Mega S bed size. Remove the existing bed and attach the new magnetic one. Ensure the bed is level and properly secured before printing.

  2. Use a flexible magnetic sheet: Another option is to attach a flexible magnetic sheet directly to the existing build plate. This allows for easy removal of prints by flexing the sheet. Make sure the magnetic sheet is cut to match the bed size and affix it securely.

  3. Utilize a removable magnetic base: Some 3D printing enthusiasts create a separate magnetic base that can be easily attached and detached from the printer. This allows for more flexibility in terms of bed materials and easy removal of prints.

Remember to adjust your printer's bed leveling after making any modifications to ensure proper print quali...

looking at my mega s i think the only way to do it would be to take the glass off somehow and secure a magnet to the underside of the bed
ive used mine for about 4 years now and after a while bed adhesion was becoming more and more of an issue and really just some pva glue made it so much more reliable and has been working for about 2 years now.
and if I were to upgrade mine to a pei sheet I wouldnt even bother with magents because a simple binder clip on each corner would work just fine

if you want to go for it but unless your really struggling then the glass bed works good enough
