#Print not matching Gcode in some elements.

For some reason parts of the print are skewed. I'm getting layer shifts too which is why this was scraped where it was. ( Slowing Acc and speed down a lot helped but didn't stop it). I'm not sure what you cause one side to be thinner and the other to be thicker then the gcode like it is. I've printed 3 or 4 of these in different states of completion but they all share this anomaly in the exact same way.

I plan to test printing this but in different orientations on the bed. I'm not sure what to test or look at since most of the time this doesn't happen or it's so slight I don't notice.

Slicer : Orca
Model : clip from thingverse (getting link)
Printer : Labists X1

AI Help

It sounds like you are experiencing layer shifts and inconsistent thickness on your 3D prints. This issue could be caused by a few different factors:

  1. Mechanical Issues: Check if your printer's belts are properly tensioned and if the pulleys are secure. Loose belts or pulleys can cause the print head to skip steps and result in layer shifts.

  2. Speed and Acceleration Settings: While you mentioned that slowing down the speed and acceleration helped but didn't completely solve the problem, you may need to further fine-tune these settings. Experiment with gradually reducing the print speed and acceleration values to see if it improves the consistency of the print.

  3. Bed Leveling and Adhesion: Ensure that your print bed is properly leveled and that the first layer adheres well to the bed surface. Uneven bed leveling or poor bed adhesion can contribute to variations in layer thickness.

  4. Software or Slicer Issues: It's also possible that there may be a problem with the G-code its...

^ all of the above are worth checking

#

Thicker and thinner parts or uneven ones can be caused by gantry binding

Would somethign like a layer shift result in 1 element being thicker/thinner/off.

#

Hm

#

What exactly is "gantry binding"

#

I assume it's related to the gantry not moving as expected.

#

... I'm trying to recall which oreantation this was on the bed in relation to the bed sling and gantry but I don't recall. I think the be gantry was moving side to side in regards to the picture.

( Also I hate that the AI gets cut off all the time lol...)

The X axis is left-right

unkempt portal
#

Wouldn't that mean it's compressed in that axis?

ripe wren

The Y axis is in-out

not one arm thing and the other thick?

#

Like there is a gap between the 2 walls on once side

ripe wren
#

It depends on how it was oriented

#

Partial clogs and jamming of bad hot end designs are common issues

unkempt portal
#

Would those cause such a consistant issue though?

#

That's what's really confusing me is that it happens exactly the same 3 times in a row.

#

If it was binding or cloging I'd assume it to be more inconsistant.

It can really screw with your max flow rate

unkempt portal
#

Like if it was hitting something on each pass I could see that causing a consistant issue.

#

How does flow rate related to the geometry shifting?

#

Can it tell that it's slowing down and ... trying to compensate?

ripe wren
#

I don't think it tries to compensate but your printer won't always be going equally fast

#

I'll have another look at your pictures on a bigger screen

I'd appreciate it. This printer has a mountain of issues, really cheap one and I have a Kobra 2 that should come in today. So I can print things at least easier.

That said I really want to see what I can get out of this thing. The layer shifts are killing me the most but I don't know if this is another symptom of the same issue or unrelated XD
