I've been getting large gaps in my top layers, and I have no idea why. I have tried lowering Pressure advance, lowering z offset, and more. The only thing that helped was changing top surface line width from 0.38 to 0. 48 but then I get over extrusion.

I have attached some prints. The squares have been some test prints but the larger object was a normal print. Which is still functional for my needs but still has the gaps.

I have been following Ellis' guides for tuning the printer.

AI Help

Based on the information you provided, it seems like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps. Here are a few additional suggestions to help address the gaps in your top layers:

  1. Check your filament: Make sure your filament is not tangled or old, as this can lead to inconsistent extrusion. Also, verify that the filament diameter is accurately set in your slicer.

  2. Calibrate your extruder: Ensure that your extruder steps/mm are correctly calibrated. This helps ensure that the right amount of filament is being fed into the hot end.

  3. Verify proper cooling: Excessive heat can cause the filament to become soft and lead to gaps in the top layers. Check that your cooling fan(s) are functioning properly and aimed correctly.

  4. Adjust temperature: Experiment with slight temperature adjustments (usually in 5°C increments) to find the optimum temperature for your filament. Higher temperatures can improve layer adhesion, while lower temperatures can reduce stringing and other...

not sure if its those AI responses but ill try printing a bit higher temp. But its new filament, overture pla and being fed from an eibos heater. For cooling i have dual 5015 part cooling fans

How many top layers and how much infill do you have? Maybe increase those
