Hello, I have recently started experimenting with printing petg, however I am having issues with getting the quality of the prints to look as good as I have with pla. I am printing with overture white petg, currently with a nozzle temp of 220c, bed temp of 70c, fan speed set to 15%, a print speed of 30mm/s, and flow rate set to 98%. I have tried adjusting Temps and did a temp tower test (I found 220 to print the best so far), adjusting flow rate, print speed, fan speed, and changing the cura profiles however I still cannot pinpoint what exactly is causing the issue. I also have a filament dryer mounted to the top of the printer which I keep on whenever I am printing. I am using cura as my slicer, and am printing with a anet a8 plus running marlin (and connected to octoprint).

It sounds like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps, which is great. Here are a few more suggestions to improve the print quality of PETG:

  1. First, make sure that your printer is properly calibrated. Check that your bed is leveled correctly and that the extruder steps/mm are properly calibrated.

  2. PETG has a tendency to string more than PLA, so tweaking the retraction settings in your slicer might help. Try increasing the retraction distance slightly, usually around 2-4mm.

  3. Slow down the print speed a bit more. Decreasing it to 20-25mm/s can help with improving the details and reducing inconsistencies.

  4. PETG prefers a heated bed, so increasing the bed temperature to around 80-85°C could improve adhesion.

  5. Adjusting the cooling fan might also be necessary. While most materials benefit from increased cooling, PETG can sometimes have better results with little to no part cooling. Try disabling the fan completely or reducing it to a minimal speed.

  6. Finally,...
