#Determining best speed + accel on closed-loop drivers

I'm using klipper on an enderXY (ender3 + coreXY adaptation - not switchwire!) and have upgraded the XY (A/B) motors to S42B motors because I was sick of missed steps ruining prints.

The trouble is, the best guides all seem to basically say "go faster until you skip steps and then back off a bit" which... um... the point of closed-loop is it corrects for that.

Anyone got any ideas how to set a sensible acceleration and speed for a machine like the beast I have created?!

When using closed-loop systems like Klipper with upgraded motors, it's important to find the right balance between speed and torque to avoid missed steps. Here's a step-by-step approach to help you set a sensible acceleration and speed:

  1. Begin with the default Klipper settings for the XY axis and note down the maximum speed and acceleration values.

  2. Gradually increase the speed settings for the XY axis until you start experiencing missed steps or artifacts in your prints.

  3. Once you encounter these issues, reduce the speed slightly until the missed steps are eliminated.

  4. Next, slowly increase the acceleration values, testing your prints after each adjustment. Keep increasing until you find the highest acceleration setting that produces optimal print quality without missed steps.

  5. While adjusting speed and acceleration, keep an eye on the motor temperatures to ensure they stay within a safe operating range.

  6. Always perform test prints with different geometries and sp...
