Hello. I have a new roll of PLA filament (same brand and model number as the last one). I’m having trouble getting it to stick to the bed properly.

Original Problem
There are little blobs of filament every now and then but my settings haven’t changed, and about 5% of the lines wouldn't stick to the bed.

Original Settings
Layer height: 0.2mm
Bottom thickness: 0.8mm
Temp: 200
Build plate temp: 70 (used to be 60 but has the same issue)
Print speed: 125mm/s
Bottom speed: 62.5mm/s
Outer wall speed: 75mm/s

What I've tried

  • I've turned the print speed to 100, bottom speed and walls to 40mm/s
  • I've done a complete deep clean of the hot end
  • I've thoroughly cleaned the build plate
  • I've manually leveled the bed and automatically leveled the bed
  • I've ensured the Z height is correct
  • I've dehydrated the filament

NEW PROBLEM
The issue is worse than ever. approximately 90% of the filament doesn't stick to the base now.

It seems like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps to improve the adhesion of your PLA filament, but the problem has worsened. Here are a few additional suggestions you can try:

  1. Check the nozzle height: Make sure the nozzle is properly leveled with the bed. Adjust the bed height or the nozzle height if necessary.

  2. Adjust the print bed temperature: PLA typically adheres well to a heated bed around 60-70°C. If you're already printing at 70°C, try reducing the temperature to 60°C, as higher temperatures can sometimes cause issues with adhesion.

  3. Increase the filament flow rate: You can try adjusting the flow rate slightly higher to ensure that enough filament is being extruded. This can be done through the printer settings or by adjusting the extrusion multiplier.

  4. Clean the nozzle and extruder gears: Make sure there are no clogs or debris hindering the smooth flow of filament. Check the nozzle opening and clean it if necessary. Ensure that the extruder gears...

I'm currently attempting the same part with the old filament and it's adhering much better. It still had some issues, but only 2% didn't adhere.

I suspect it must just be that roll is wetter than expected?
