lol

#

You hoping to get sponsored because of cardboard enclosure? vaulthah

slender oxide
#

alr

#

today imma try getting din rail mounted on the bottom

slender oxide
#

fuck fuck fuck
i tihnk i melted my motor mounts
they were on for the last 6 hours doing nothing
its polymaker abs
SHIT

#

im gonna check when i go home

slender oxide
#

blob fucked a lot of stuff up

#

need to reprint the cowl

slender oxide
#

im sad

#

i gotta print slow cuz the right cooling duct is non-existant

slender oxide
#

just got the dinrail slots cut out, gonna mount din rail on it tonight and move electronics

#

need to print out a new psu thing

#

imma mount the new cowl first tho

slender oxide
#

cowl fully replaced

#

starting a print for the psu mounts

slender oxide
#

i just hand twisted this CAN cable

slender oxide
#

yeah im replacing the bed magnet

#

shit cant hold down my pei sheet

#

(is pei supposed to taco when hot?)

flat sage
slender oxide
#

yeah

slender oxide
#

Moving it to the bottom rn

#

Psu mounted as well as mobo

#

Gonna mount rpi and wire shit up

#

I have barely any space down thrre

slender oxide
#

yay

#

all wired up on the bottom, need to just connect CANbus

slender oxide
#

tmrw morning imma finish up the crimping for the canbus, im lazy rn to do it. need to crimp power and actual can wires and need to remember which is L and H on the connector... the damn schematic says nothing

#

extender side done

#

pcb side not done

slender oxide
slender oxide
#

klean

slender oxide
#

alr

#

just finished electronics

#

its on

#

just need to fix up the chamber lights

slender oxide
#

sheesh

#

not horrible

slender oxide
#

oh yeah

#

and i added like

#

11 more LEDs

damn RSCS keeps falling off

#

im gonna try getting some better tape

flat sage
slender oxide
#

lmao

#

im gonna print out the pii skirt

#

gonna see if i can do uh pin thingy

#

wait can i?

#

cuz canbus

#

shit i cant

lmaoo

#

imma switch to toothed idlers on the xy joints

#

these bearings are not working

#

like

#

they are

#

but theyre like concaving ig

slender oxide
#

this is gonna save my ass

#

i love printables

slender oxide
#

ebb36 cover

#

ok

#

just modeled up the non-scuff versin of the xy joints

#

gonna make it paramaterized tmrw

#

for future me

quiet jewel
#

MUST GO FASTER

slender oxide
#

@velvet escarp any reccomendations?

#

oh yeah and should i get 16t idlers or 20t idlers?

#

spot the issue

rahh light weighting

slender oxide
slender oxide

SMOOTH_MZV 74.6 for Y

#

SMOOTH_ZV 56.8 for X

slender oxide
#

any ideas why i have some activity in the 200hz area?

distant basin
# slender oxide

that noise trigger my "o sh*t my printter is making a noise it shouldn't"

distant basin
slender oxide
slender oxide
#

Tho

distant basin
#

when a frequency matches a materials natural harmonics

#

like how sound can break glass or the werid noise your vacum makes somtimes

distant basin
slender oxide
#

ik

#

im guessing its fans

distant basin
#

have you looked into active dampeners?

#

idk seems like somthing fun to look into adding don't know how to make one or buy one lol

slender oxide
distant basin
#

sort of like how some printers have it where the print head moves to aborb some movement (forgot the name for it) but instead of the print head compesating you could have another print head (or somthing simliar) move in the opsite direction reducing vibration in the system activly before it can resonate or move throught the system.

#

so print head move left counter weight moves right ect

slender oxide
#

oh that sounds horrible

distant basin
#

idk I was just following a ideal to see where it went

slender oxide
#

nah the issue with that is you have to match the main toolhead EXACTLY and drive another pair of 5160s running at 1.2 amps and another pair of omc-2004s1s

#

with that hardware i couldve done AWD

distant basin
#

or to save time to bolt the thing down to a concrete floor I doubt you can shake the entire bulding

slender oxide
#

hell i dont ahve a drill

distant basin
#

lol

#

I had to get a job before I could get a printer

#

my second pay check went to this expensive trash... they are out of business now lol

slender oxide
#

lmao

distant basin
#

I sold it to a pawn shop and got a ender 3v2 every other print I had to level the thing out but it still printed good when it did

slender oxide
#

nice

distant basin
#

then I said f it and took out a buy n pay later for a p1s since I enjoy making stuff more then fixing stuff (most the time)

distant basin
slender oxide
#

ykw

#

dual z is easy

#

i can do it

#

belts exist

#

i have 2 rods

#

(4 if you consider the carbon ones)

distant basin
#

you should try a delta at some point they seem like a fun challenge

slender oxide
distant basin
#

yeah I like watching them move around they are fun and natrually high accel

slender oxide
#

real

#

😭 i would grab these but theyre 10mm off 😭

#

i need minimum 260

distant basin
#

f well time to buy them anyways I mean one day I might need them

slender oxide
distant basin
#

yeah like the 50 benchys?

slender oxide
#

over the span of 18 months

distant basin
#

that is sus but ok lol did you try printing any chainmail yet?

#

torture test the printer

slender oxide
#

i print articulated stuff often tho

#

dragons and shit

distant basin
#

I could never get my old ender 3 to print chain mail sadly my p1s can though

slender oxide
#

imma use my PG7

slender oxide
quiet jewel
slender oxide
#

its annoying

#

only happens with ASA

quiet jewel
#

65C

#

no

#

80C

slender oxide
#

i have a feeling thats not the issue

slender oxide
#

this part is acc not horrible

#

much more rigid compared to the other one

distant basin
#

that surface looks rough

slender oxide
slender oxide
slender oxide
distant basin

I just woke up and thought you bought a glow in the dark ptfe tube

slender oxide

Why the walls look so scuff?

slender oxide
#

It's an overhang

#

It was under supported

slender oxide
#

theres negative play

#

basically no X twist

#

i need to replace the X rail

#

theres soo many balls missing

slender oxide
slender oxide
slender oxide
slender oxide
#

yeah my X is fucked

#

imma start disassembling and tightening eveyrthing

#

2 more days till i go to india

slender oxide
#

Distance between skirt corner to skirt corner righ/left side: 255mm

#

Roughly 65mm on each side on the fans

slender oxide
distant basin
#

Can you say fire hazard in faulty connection?

slender oxide
distant basin
#

I was just saying that those wire really close to the carpet seem like a fire hazard

slender oxide
#

Oh nah it's fine

slender oxide
#

I eat da nozzle

#

I can finally print abrasive now

slender oxide
distant basin
#

I wish my p1s gave me graphs like this. Would I understand it? No. Would it change anything? No. would it be cool to look at yes

slender oxide
#

alright no more updates on this for the next 2 months

#

im heading to india

flat sage
#

Have fun

velvet escarp
#

4 is real peak

#

Try eliminate others

slender oxide
#

alr

quiet jewel
slender oxide
#

Maybe

#

Idk

#

It might be the bearings

#

For my linear rails

#

Cuz they're shit

slender oxide
#

@velvet escarp could my false peaks be a shit linear rail?

velvet escarp
#

unlikely

slender oxide
#

i checked my rail just last week and im missing like

#

9 balls from each side

velvet escarp
#

oh what

slender oxide
#

yeah lmao

velvet escarp
#

mgn12 is like 4 balls out i think

slender oxide
#

i dropped this on the shop floor by accident while milling it

#

ignore my shitty drawing skills but after pushing all the bearings in, this is how it looks like

velvet escarp
#

very possible if its missing that many

slender oxide
#

alr

#

ill try getting another block

#

is it alright if its not the same brand n shit

velvet escarp
#

the preload might be matched

slender oxide
#

I'll see if I can find some rails here in India

distant basin
#

You can find miles of the stuff just lying on the ground if you go to a train track

slender oxide
#

Lmao

#

Linear rails with bearings in the mgn form factor

slender oxide
abstract atlas
#

nah, get an Engineer PA-21

slender oxide
#

It's like 8x more expensive

#

Ill see if I can get a good deal on it

abstract atlas
#

those spring loaded crimping tools give you zero control and I snapped about 60% of my crimps in half in them by accident

distant basin
distant basin
#

@slender oxide question now that the cube print doesn't that mean it has already been revived?

distant basin
#

Ahh

slender oxide
#

Just not fast enough

#

I want to go a bit faster and fully enclosed

distant basin
#

So not really #1151917309875728504 more like a revamp?

slender oxide
#

No it's a Revive

distant basin
#

But it wasn't dead?

slender oxide
#

Have you seen how slow and shut it used to print

#

Shit*

#

I've killed it and revived it so many times

distant basin
#

Ahh ok I was just wondering why the channel was still called revive after I saw the cube print some stuff already

abstract atlas
#

some people here use 'revive' in the sense of 'bringing up to current expectations of 3d printers'

#

and since the landscape always changes, it's an ever-ongoing process.

slender oxide
#

^

slender oxide
#

Yo

#

I have a ptc

#

Well

#

Peltier

slender oxide
#

I should be able to use this to heat the chamber

#

12v 5a iirc

#

Shit that's gonna blow the mosfet

#

Amd buck

flat sage
#

Wait a peltier?

#

Mhhh....cool stepper motors with peltiers, dump heat into chamber...πŸ€”

slender oxide
#

its for chamber

flat sage
#

Read that

slender oxide
#

i could do stepper cooling too

#

but peltiers r inefficienct af

#

its better to just throw a fan onto them

flat sage
slender oxide
#

ngl i could prolly just get a rlly resistive load

#

and itll work better

#

than this peltier

flat sage
slender oxide
#

Lmao

slender oxide
#

Ooh I got a rpi 4

#

It's sd card port is blown

#

And usb c is a bit sketch but works

abstract atlas
slender oxide
#

The guy who did it didn't know gpio existed

slender oxide
#

alr

#

so the pi which i got is 4gb

#

thats nice

slender oxide
#

So I'm back

#

Not to canada but yeah

#

I just got so much stuff for the cube

#

Again

#

I got leadscrew couplers, t8 nuts

#

Basically everything other than rails for the tri z

#

I also got some 3010 fans and a few 4020s

#

They look like server fans

#

Didn't rlly see the size

slender oxide
#

I'll send a Pic of everything igot once I'm home

slender oxide
slender oxide
#

those damn 4028 fans are 0.66 amps each

#

12v

slender oxide
#

these 4028s

#

are wild

#

@velvet escarp is this fact or cap

velvet escarp
#

cap

slender oxide
#

aww

#

what would the actual cfm be like

slender oxide
#

im gonna print this out when im home https://www.teamfdm.com/files/file/331-picam-corner/

Team FDM

Picam corner mount About the only place I found to mount the picam with a view low down of the bed. This was inspired by the v0 design by xbst Hardware A single m3x8 bolt and t-nut A suitable length of picam ribbon cable

lunar pollen
#

OK. I know I just wandered into this thread. I truly do not care. My gosh man, did you know what you were getting into last year??? I've spent the past 15 mins reading this thread. Amazing. I could never have the patience to revive that printer. Amazing.

slender oxide
#

i kinda did know what i wanted to do from the start

#

high speed, high temp material printer

#

im partially there lol

#

its able to do relatively high speeds and can print ASA, (hoping PC soon!)

#

didnt know itd take over 400 bucks of upgrades though lol

#

plus now that i have a somewhat steady "income" from hackclubs onboard program, this shoudl start picking up pace

#

i might design smtg for this honestly, ive gotten good at PCB designing

lunar pollen
#

How long u think it'll take to finish (if ever)? Another few years?

slender oxide
#

most likely lol

#

enclosure most likely this year, electronics should be finished once im back

#

motion system, another good year or so

lunar pollen
#

Wow. Again I'd never have the patience. Also, what's hackclubs?

slender oxide
#

haha check out the website

#

its too much to say over discord

#

im gonna try getting tri z finished this year too

#

major goal this year

lunar pollen
#

Good luck. (You'll need it) πŸ‘

slender oxide
#

lol tahnks

lunar pollen
#

Holy cow just looked up hack club. I'm a teenager. πŸ€” I code a lot. thinkies I'm building a drone at this moment. thonk sHoUlD i JoIn HaCkClUb?

lunar pollen
#

@slender oxide quick question is hackclub safe? its kinda 3rd party

slender oxide
#

not 102cfm powerful

#

but decently powerful

slender oxide
#

so uh

#

i forgot to loosen my belts

#

and theyve been sitting like that

#

for

#

2 months

#

i have smooth idlers on a few of the idlers where the teeth touch :heavysob:

abstract atlas
#

where the teeth touched

#

but if two months deform the belt permanently, you've overtensioned anyways

slender oxide
#

ill check once im home

#

still another 10 days before im home

slender oxide
slender oxide
#

yo

#

so im back

#

again

#

with a brand new idea!

#

mb

slender oxide
#

alr

#

bet

lunar meadow
#

i missed the ping in gen lol

#

sorry

slender oxide
#

imma remove the vslot mounts

#

and just vhb tape it to the PC

slender oxide
#

okay guys!!!

#

we are back!!!

#

i got pi5 mounted

#

actual beast

low ginkgo
#

welcome back karppog

quiet jewel
#

Aye!

flat sage
slender oxide
#

I need to upgrade a shitton of shit on this

abstract atlas
#

Give us reference prints

slender oxide
#

will do, theyre really shit lmao

#

theres soo much ringing

#

i need to get the cr 10 fixed up. it works but it can't home

abstract atlas
#

G92 time and manual homing

slender oxide
#

yup lol thats what ive been doing for the last few days now

#

wanted to try doing adxl_probe but its not wokring

lunar pollen
#

yo blaze idk if u remember me but I found u on Hackclub πŸ˜„

slender oxide
#

befoer i forgoet

#

ima make a list of shit i need to fix

#
  • replace stepper driver fans with quieter ones
  • redo IS with nozzle mount
  • tune for quietness over speed
  • tune VFA
#

in that order

slender oxide
quiet jewel
#

Lel

#

But if you can get good speed on stealthchop I would be impressed

slender oxide
#

imma try
