Looks really nice.
What kind of investment are you looking at for all the necessary parts, if you don't mind me asking.
u dont know whats good
@slim turret be nice.
Looks so uncomfortable
quite the opposite compared to a normal flat keyboard. the point is to improve comfort and avoid straining issues that are quite common with prolonged typing on regular keyboards
Looks great! What filaments are you using there?
Great job getting both done too! I made half a keyboard once (for games) and vowed never to do it again after all the support cleanup ๐
honestly man i know this is hard core ergo but like man my flat ergo im happy with
supports would be hellis on this guy
but im glad you got them done!
I've done this on the super cheap, so I think it's under $100 AUD all in so far. I see them sell for $550+ no problem
Cyan is from inkstation.com.au, eSun pink
PLA+
Thanks for the reply. I was wondering because I've got a Moonlander which has been quite expensive and while I love some aspects of it I'm not 100% happy. So maybe I'd want to do a custom build myself some time.
I've got a Dygma Defy on the way, I built this to keep me busy while waiting ๐ I'm probably not in the majority market if I'm spending $800 AUD on a keyboard..
No worries, I'd highly recommend it if you want to tinker, and learn if you prefer the keywell or flat without spending a ton
I've gone the Defy because I heard too many horror stories and general complaints of the thumb wings on Moonlander - Defy should be a tank
Yip .. the thumbcluster connection is super weak and broke really early so it's still usable but not super stable, during heavier use it sometimes collapses. So while gaming usually
When the emotions run a bit high
Also, it's a bit of a shame that i practically only use one of the thumbcluster buttons in every day life.
I have set the others up for media control, which is fine. But I had hoped they could do more prominent jobs but they are just to hard to reach.
Thankyou for validating my choice ๐ I work expensed half of it so it needs to last
updated the order twice so I'm all in on the add-ons now, it's going to last a long time fingers crossed
after this Dactyl I want to make a wireless Corne for portability then I should be done for a bit
First time I hear about the new Dygma. I'll keep an eye on it.
it's shipping later this month, and the 10% presale discount will drop then
I'd love to try to build one myself but I've got quite a bit of research and learning ahead of me. I never even soldered anything. Have no idea what components I would need apart from switches and keycaps ..
Or how to source the components
Gotcha, well I'd call this an intermediate project due to the style of hand wiring mostly, but there are a ton of both video and text guides and the parts are pretty easy to source - definitely doable
here's the generator I used for the STLs
Fully customize a Dactyl keyboard from your browser. The ergonomic design reduces strain and lets you build your keyboard the way you like it.
That's so bonkers, to have a Generator for that. Crazy ๐
Thanks for your opinion. Maybe I'll get to it eventually. Got a bit too much on my plate currently.
No problem, feel free to ping me for assistance if/when it makes its way to the top of the never-ending list ๐
Thanks. I'll pm you so I won't forget.
its actually quite nice and redistributes load between fingers more evenly
