So i am on attempt number 7 now, using pla+ at 215 and bed at 60, at layer 5 i keep getting well i dont know anymore, and i am getting really fed up, tired and frustrated with this now.
Asked several discords and reddit, and i dont know if this one will be another one buried in the long list of my problems with these fucking printers of mines.

...Always something with these fucking creality printers!

AI Help

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your 3D printer. I'll do my best to help you troubleshoot the issue. Can you please provide more specific details about the problem you're experiencing at layer 5?

It's a bit hard to see where your problem starts. I see the part most West is lifting off the bed. Some of the rest I can't tell very well. But given that your skirt is lifting.. it seems to be issues with sticking to the bed. I can see glue streaks on your bed. Have you given the build plate a solid scrub with Dawn dishwashing liquid and tried the print without glue?

Happened again

#

New filament, new print object too

#

Roughly the same layer

So here it is! @warped locust

#

Have you only tried PLA+ filaments so far? Have you tried normal PLA?

warped locust
warped locust
buoyant plank
#

hmm okay.

plain monolith
#

possibly wet filament

#

what brand is it from?

buoyant plank
#

Someone suggested checking the extrusion multiplier too. That's definitely worth checking if you haven't done so

warped locust
plain monolith
#

How old is it?

warped locust
warped locust
plain monolith
#

And what brand?

warped locust
#

Esun

buoyant plank
#

If it's doing this on such a consistent basis on all rolls across multiple types of PLA, then I don't know whether moisture is the primary suspect anymore

buoyant plank
warped locust
#

It's a whole new hotend and block too, cause the printer... Had a meltdown

You should do that

warped locust
#

I'll do that just now

buoyant plank
#

even a tiny bit of under extrusion can cause significant layer bonding issues without looking troubled

plain monolith
#

What temps are you printing at?

buoyant plank
#

plenty apparently

warped locust
plain monolith
#

Alright

#

Pla+ tends to print hotter

#

like around 220

buoyant plank
#

"normal" PLA tends to be fine at 200c though, as a general consensus. 🙂 There's a small range of acceptable temperatures

warped locust
#

That's what I have it normally for all my printers

buoyant plank
#

I run my PLA at 220-230 because STRONK

#

I print geometrically simplistic models though, so your mileage may vary 🙂

glad pond
#

Just bouncing in here to ask- does this only happen on this model at this layer point or all models at this height?

warped locust
buoyant plank
warped locust
#

I did haha

buoyant plank
#

Hah. Is it consistently at that diameter?

warped locust
#

That was one part, it's roughly 1.76-78

buoyant plank
#

It should be pretty close to 1.75 at almost all times

warped locust
#

1.76

buoyant plank
#

measure with the tips of the calipers without too much force. That's the part that's meant to be accurate and repeatable.

#

Using the flat part can be impacted by the slight curve in the filament

warped locust
#

1.74 with the tip

#

Going to try again with another pla.

#

This one just came straight out the dryer

#

Don't know if thats any use

#

Oh, I just noticed the acceleration, would that be an issue?

buoyant plank
#

it's not high but not low. it shouldn't

#

it's how fast it's allowed to speed up, until it reaches the maximum speed or until it has to slow down again

warped locust
#

I've refreshed it and put a different roll on,

#

If it doesn't work, then I will do that extruder thing.

Really didnt want to take off the motor again haha

buoyant plank
#

don't have to!

#

you calibrate it by measuring how much filament is extruded for a known amount you asked for

#

you adjust your steps/mm by the same ratio as the real vs requested distance

warped locust
#

I don't want to be dumb, but I'm going to be dumb, can you give me an example? Haha

Thanks for your help on everything it's much appreciated, I'll do that once this test print is finished

buoyant plank
#

ok :)

warped locust
# buoyant plank ok :)

So when i do the command M503 it says unkown command, also i purged 100mm of filament and it was 96

plain monolith
#

are you running professional firmware

warped locust
plain monolith
#

ohh its klipper

#

alright

warped locust
#

yeah haha

plain monolith
#

i completely forgot how to uh see klipper stuff

#

lemme check

buoyant plank
#

Ohhh you're on Klipper?

plain monolith
#

klipper doesnt support that

#

Can you open your printer.cfg and send your [extruder] section here?

plain monolith
#

heres how to calculate ur rotation distance

#

(Actual Extrusion Amount x Current "rotation_distance" Value / Extrusion Amount = New rotation_distance (e-step) Value

#

Actual Extrusion Amount = measurement in mm after extruding.

Extrusion Amount = amount in mm that you told Klipper to extruder.

rotation_distance = whatever is in the [extruder] section in Klipper before you told Klipper to start extruding.

warped locust
#

yeah you have lost me there

plain monolith
#

basically

#

open up ur printer.cfg

#

ill do it for u

warped locust
#

its open

plain monolith
#

can you send me your [extruder] section

warped locust
plain monolith
#

alright

warped locust
#

oh, my noozle is actually a 0.4

plain monolith
#

(96 x 5.7/ 100)

plain monolith
#

5.472

#

replace your rotation distance with that

warped locust
#

Thats that done, also changed the noozle size just in case too

#

Will i try another print test?

plain monolith
#

alright

#

sure

#

rmbr to save and restart

warped locust
#

Thanks for your help guys

#

will do another test print

plain monolith
#

alright
