#Printed a Calicat - shows signs of stringing, filament not coming out fully(?), etc.

Hello! After recently doing some troubleshooting in regard to filament not adhering to the bed, alongside making some adjustments to my retraction settings in Cura (https://all3dp.com/2/ender-3-pro-v2-retraction-settings-all-you-need-to-know/), I decided to try printing a Calicat. After it completed, however, I have noticed some clear signs of stringing, gaps in the layer(s) immediately following the feet, and some tiny gaps in the extrusion amongst other possible things.

The Calicat was printed using PETG at 220c/70c temps respectively on a Textured PEI surface.

I'd appreciate any help/tips I can get. I've provided pictures from multiple angles so you can hopefully see what the issues I've described are.

Based on the information you provided, it seems like you are experiencing some common issues in 3D printing. Here are a few tips to address each problem:

  1. Stringing: Stringing occurs when filament oozes out from the nozzle during travel moves. To reduce stringing, you can try the following:

    • Adjust retraction settings: Increase the retraction distance to pull back filament more effectively.
    • Adjust retraction speed: Increase the speed at which the filament retracts to prevent oozing.
    • Enable "Coast at End" or "Wipe Nozzle" features in your slicing software, if available. These features help reduce stringing by controlling the pressure in the nozzle at the end of each print move.
  2. Gaps in layers or extrusion: Gaps can occur due to various reasons, such as inconsistent extrusion or insufficient cooling. Here's what you can do:

    • Check your extruder assembly: Ensure that your extruder gear is properly gripping the filament and that there are no clogs.

Is anyone able to comment?

Lower z offset slightly

Printing very cold

Retraction length too low

Increase wall/perimeter count

I was happy with the Z offset at -2.925. I feel like going down 0.025 might be too much though.

I might try increasing the retraction length and temperature first when I next can tend to my printer. I’ll report back here with the results of that.
