Hello! After doing a print recently of a webcam cover and while watching it print, I noticed what appeared to be stringing and/or gaps in-between some of the layers? I’m honestly not sure what could be causing this issue, but I wanted to see if anyone else might know. Thanks.

Hello! It sounds like you might be experiencing issues with stringing and/or gaps in your print. This can be caused by a few different factors:
-
Incorrect retraction settings: Stringing can occur when your printer doesn't retract the filament properly between moves. Check your printer settings and make sure that the retraction distance and speed are appropriately configured.
-
Filament temperature: If the filament is too hot, it can be more prone to stringing. Try lowering the temperature slightly and see if it helps.
-
Print speed: Printing too quickly can also contribute to stringing. Slow down the print speed and see if it improves the problem.
-
Z-axis alignment: If there are gaps between layers, it could be due to incorrect Z-axis calibration. Check that your printer's bed is properly leveled and calibrated.
-
Filament quality: Poor quality or old filament can also lead to stringing and gaps. Make sure you're using fresh, high-quality filament.

The printer I'm using for reference is an Ender 3 Pro that I recently swapped the stock extruder out on for an all metal one. I did go about calibrating the E steps following that.
I also have a BL Touch fitted to the printer to compensate for any variations after doing my best to level the bed.
