#Trouble printing at an angle

I'm looking to print an object that can't be printed flat well - I thought 45 degrees would be perfect but I'm getting warping and I'm not sure why. I printed a benchy and calibration cube with a circle cut out just fine. I do actually want a wider version of this and it's possible just extending it will give it more time to cool / keep the angle better but I'm really not sure - any suggestions would be welcome!

Printed on a Prusa Mk2.5S using Hatchbox PLA. For the part that failed, I used glue on the bed - I actually didn't use it for the calibration cube or the benchy.

If you're experiencing warping when printing an object at a 45-degree angle, there are a few things you can try to improve the print quality:

  1. Ensure proper bed leveling: Make sure your printer's bed is leveled correctly. An uneven bed can cause warping.
  2. Use a heated bed: If your printer has a heated bed, try increasing the bed temperature. A higher bed temperature can help improve adhesion and reduce warping.
  3. Use a brim or raft: Adding a brim or a raft to your print can provide better adhesion to the bed and help prevent warping.
  4. Decrease print speed: Printing slower can help improve cooling and reduce warping issues.
  5. Use a cooling fan: Ensure that the part cooling fan is properly functioning and directed towards the print to help cool down the layers and reduce warping.

It's always a good idea to experiment with different settings and make minor adjustments until you achieve the desired result. Good luck with your print!

^ these are good suggestions, thanks robot! but i do have a heated bed, did use a brim, decreased the print speed (adjusted total nozzle flow rate down on a second attempt), I didn't change any cooling settings

Maybe add some manual supports?

1 hour?!

I did add manual supports, @grave cosmos , you can see them in the video. I could support the whole item but that defeats the purpose

You don't need to support the whole thing but maybe just one halfway up the middle? Just to brace it once it's getting tall enough

Oooh that's a great idea

Thank you
