Hi all, currently I’m printing a gimbal cup holder and I’ve been using organic supports the ones in the middle colluded with the extruded head for some reason and caused part of the layer to mess up and the support to be pushed loose, I think the holder could stand without the supports in the area it broke off but how do I disable these supports without restarting the print? I have the print on pause for now but what can I do to resolve this, I’m using pursa slicer.
#how to block supports mid print?

To disable the supports without restarting the print, you can try the following steps:
- Resume the paused print.
- Let the print continue until it reaches the layer where you want the supports to be disabled.
- Pause the print again at the desired layer.
- Use a pair of pliers or any suitable tool to carefully remove the unwanted supports.
- Resume the print.
However, please note that removing supports mid-print can be challenging and may affect the overall print quality. It's important to be cautious and gentle when removing the supports to avoid damaging the print or causing other issues.
Additionally, check your slicer settings to ensure the supports are generated properly in the future. Consider using a different support structure if you're experiencing consistent issues with organic supports colliding with the print. Experimenting with different support settings can help you achieve better results.

Thanks benchy but the supports continue to print upwards ruining the rest of the layers as it won’t solidify on anything and just clumps on the rest of the print
is it not possible to move a print upwards so it looks like its printing in air on prusa but its actually on a print
You mean slice it so that it prints mid air?
yeah cause my prints supports failed so i resliced without those specific supports
Not possible AFAIK
ah
my surrent g height is 15.4
do i change the starting layer or smthn?
what gcode do i edit?
Sorry, was doing something
I'm thinking only home X and Y
And depends on whether you have finished the layer
it finished the most recent layer but started a new one maybe a few seconds ago
its still paused
and the bed is still hot so ittl stick for a while
Hmmm, I guess you can start from the unfinished layer
Actually
Honestly not sure how I'd go about doing this
im watching CNC kitchens video on how to resume failed prints
i think i can use some of this
with the resliced file
i found the layer it stopped
now i just need to delete all previous gcode
i think

is it possible to home the Z axis of the svo6 somewhere on the plate that is not the middle but instead a corner?
use g92
but when i use that it trys bringing the z down in the middle of the print bed
and thats where the print has failed
so i cant really do that
so im trying to see if i can home it in one of the corners
manually move your print head to the z height that the print stopped at
and then do g92 {that z height}
it doesnt let me move it in the negatives
so ive been trying to set up pronterface
but idk which cable plugs into the 3d printer
is it a mirco usb?
then do g92 { some big number}, move it down, then do g92 with the correct height
and make sure your start gcode is only going to try home x and y, not
yeah im movinbg it to the max height
now ill move it down
do i set the G92 to the layer i want to print or the layer it stopped?
well that depends on what z height youve moved the head to
if the nozzle is directly resting on the print, then set it to the layer it stopped and have the first move in the gcode be moving up a layer
if its ~1 layer higher above the print, then set it to the new layer
ok
and its a z height in mm to set it, not layer count
im trying to move the nozzle to the layer it stopped
i just call it a layer but in my headd each layer is in mm
could you take a look at this gcode?
Would you say this is the correct layer?
no its good
generally speaking though m420 s1 should be after g28, not before, fyi
wont make a difference at this z height anyway but generally
it apears to be printing right
theres no stinging indicating that it did stick to the layer before
