#Need Help with my Network setup and Fluidd

I use a Creality wifi Box running KlipperWrt with Klipper (instead of a pi). Yesterday suddently I wasn't able to connect to the web interface Fluidd through my PC anymore. It works from my phone and notebook however, which are connected to the wifi. The PC is connected via ethernet and the Creality box via wifi. You can see the network topology in the picture.

Does anyone know what could be the cause here?

AI Help

It's possible that there may be an issue with the network configuration on your PC. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Ensure that your PC is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Creality Box. Check the network settings on your PC to confirm this.

  2. Restart your PC and the Creality Box. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.

  3. Disable any firewall or antivirus software on your PC temporarily and see if that allows you to connect to the web interface. If so, you may need to adjust the settings of your security software to allow the connection.

  4. Try accessing the web interface using a different web browser on your PC. Sometimes browser extensions or settings can interfere with accessing certain web interfaces.

  5. Double-check that the IP address of your Creality Box hasn't changed. If it has, you may need to update the IP address in your PC's network settings or in the web interface URL.

  6. If possible, temporarily connect your PC...

#

how are you accessing the printer from your PC?

normal oar
#

Through the IP address of the box

rotund steppe
#

Not DNS then - what error do you get when you attempt to access it?

normal oar
#

It just doesn't load at all. It has no connection

rotund steppe
#

what does that look like though?

normal oar
#

Timeout

rotund steppe
#

windows?

normal oar
#

yes

rotund steppe
#

open powershell and run a ping on the IP

normal oar
#

My PC and the Creality Wifi box have fixed IP's

#

how does that work? I'm not too familiar with networks and stuff

rotund steppe
normal oar
#

I tried using winscp to connect to the box from my PC but it doesn't find anything

rotund steppe
normal oar
#

and then

rotund steppe
#

type ping <your printers IP>

#

it should give you some statistics:

host not reachable

but it is from other devices?

#

how are you connecting from other devices ? Are you using an app or the web browser?

normal oar
#

I looked through the routers settings but can't find anything strange

#

web browser

#

and mobileraker as well. all those work

rotund steppe
#

can you try using mdns or bonjour?

normal oar
#

sry I don't know what that is

rotund steppe
#

Do you have terminal access on the printer?

normal oar
#

yes

rotund steppe
#

Is it linux based?

normal oar
#

yes I think so

rotund steppe
#

can you run hostname in the terminal

#

and ifconfig

normal oar
#

yes give me a second. need to get my phone

#

it says hostname not found

rotund steppe
#

command not found?

#

or you dont have a hostname?

#

have you tried restarting the board?

normal oar
#

@rotund steppe not a hard reset on the box itself. That would delete everything. The weird thing is that it stopped working out of nowhere, so it must have to do something with the network and router settings

rotund steppe
#

Yes, the fact your hostname doesnt resolve is odd

#

I wouldnt hard reset but a restart might resolve that

normal oar
#

I mean it was powered on and off a few times now since yesterday

night surge
#

You're on different network segment

normal oar
#

But it has worked until now like this

#

so the wifi router must have changed somethign on its own

#

What should I look for in the settings? there's a lot I have no idea about

night surge
#

I don't know what happen but different network segment will not communicate unless there's routing for it.

normal oar
#

so can I setup up a route between them?

night surge
#

The simplest way is to make all your devices on one segment.

normal oar
#

but I have no wifi on my PC

#

and it's connected using ethernet directly to the main wifi router. the printer is in a room where I have no ethernet cable and no wifi signal of the main router

night surge
#

Then you need to setup routing on your routers.

normal oar
#

this?

night surge
#

I don't understand your language...

normal oar
#

sry I'll do some research myself on the specific router. I'll come back if I can't figure it out

#

thanks for the help

night surge
#

One more thing, sometimes it's easier and faster to just factory reset you routers and set everything from scratch. Home routers usually have setup wizard that automatically set everything.

normal oar
#

yeah I haven't changed anything in the settings, so I should be able to do that. Just seems weird to me that it was working fine for a year and now suddenly something must have changed but I don't see anything different or new in the settings

normal oar
#

Shouldn't they both be in the same network and subnet as they both have a 192.168.1.x IP? A different subnet would be 192.168.2.x or have I misunderstood this??

normal oar
#

I haven't been able to solve it

#

I just tried pinging some other devices on that same wifi network the Printer is on and my PC does find them

night surge
#

What's their ip? Maybe it's the printer that has the wrong address

normal oar
#

I've also reset the router without any success

Usually home routers have connected device list, does yours have it? Is the printer listed there?

#

@night surge

#

Like this? The PC and Printer are those circles

night surge
#

Where the picture come from? Is it from your router?

#

Assuming it's from your router and you only have one router, the only thing I can think of is there's firewall preventing the access.

night surge
normal oar
#

That's just how I can access the KlipperWRT interface. I followed a tutorial about this. But accessing the Fluidd interface and boxes IP is 192.168.1.xxx

night surge
#

And you access it from your pc?

normal oar
#

No that's for when I'm connected directly to the Creality Boxes wifi with my phone or laptop

#

And this hasn't been changed. I've checked the settings and it's all the same as when I installed it

night surge
#

I'm sorry but I don't use klipper nor creality boxes, so I don't know how it works. But from networking perspective it means you have 2 different network, is that correct?

normal oar
#

There's the main router to which a Devolo Powerline device is connected, to which the Printer is connected via wifi to

#

But that doesn't mean it's a complete different network, right?

night surge
#

Yeah, I don't know how to explain it exactly, but your klipper has it's own network.

#

You might want to double check the printer's network setting. Just to make sure. The thing that's weird to me is that unless your printer have 2 network interface, it should only have 1 ip. It can have multiple ip's but that's complicate things, unless you are familiar with networking, it's not advisable.

normal oar
#

I honestly don't know why that is. I followed the only tutorial out there and it didn't fully explain all steps. But that it has been working for over a year until now without touching it is strange. I've tried reaching out to the dev behind this KlipperWRT thing but he's not very active at all and neither is their discord group

night surge
#

Can you ping the main router from your printer?

normal oar
#

Haven't tried that

#

I'm gonna try now

night surge
# normal oar

And while you're at it, please show the rest of ifconfig result

normal oar
#

Yes I can ping the main router

night surge
#

So there's a connection.... that's strange

#

This points more to firewall

normal oar
#

Could it maybe have to do something with the windows firewall? There have been some updates lately

night surge
#

Your printer ip is 1.102

normal oar
#

Yes (has changed from the first ifconfig I've sent you as I reset the router)

night surge
#

Have you try ping it since?

normal oar
#

Yes I have. Same result

night surge
#

Could you run tracert to the printer from your windows

#

Type tracert 192.168.1.102 from command prompt or pwershell

normal oar
#

Other devices I tried pinging are smartphones or laptops, so there might be some older protocols on the Creality box that aren't safe for the windows firewall

#

Don't have time right now. Will do it later

night surge
#

Ping are the same for every device

#

Well you could try disabling windows firewall for a while, just to see if this problem is cause by it.

normal oar
#

I only get timeouts
