#Filament clogs and unclogs on its own.

I left a print overnight and noticed that it skipped a layer or two. Then when I was awake I heard the extruder gear skipping. I paused the print, took the filament out and noticed it bulged on the end. I snipped it and put it back in and it was clear again. My question is what would cause this? It clearly resolved itself once overnight but then occurred again this morning.

There are a few possible causes for this issue. Firstly, the bulge at the end of the filament could be caused by heat creep, where heat from the hot end travels up the filament and melts it further up than intended. This can cause the filament to bulge and jam in the extruder. Another possible cause could be that the extruder tension is too tight, causing the gear to dig into the filament and create a bulge that can eventually lead to skipping and under extrusion. Try loosening the extruder tension and see if the issue persists. Finally, it could be a problem with the filament itself, such as a moisture issue or a diameter inconsistency. Make sure to store your filament properly and check its diameter with a caliper.

I did a bit of research before posting and none of these answers seem to fit with what I'm doing. Maybe retraction settings but mine seem fine. Only doing 2mm

I did have it at 5mm and had a similar issue, bumped it down to 2.
