At the risk of sounding like an idiot. I’m super new. I have an ender 3 Neo and I just put on the pro spider hot end. I’m not able to get it to print correctly. The filament will not extrude close enough to the bed to stick and I have made a lovely scar on my print bed with my z axis in this tussle. Was this the wrong hot head for this printer or am I missing something? I’m lost please send help. I just want to make things!

AI Help

Don't worry, we're here to help! First, double-check that your printer's firmware has been updated to support the new hot end. Once you've done that, try levelling your print bed again, making sure you're using the correct Z-offset for the new hot end. You may need to adjust your bed level more than with the previous hot end.

Another possibility is that your nozzle is too high, causing filament to fail to stick to the bed. Try lowering the nozzle to be closer to the bed and see if that helps. If it's still not working, you may want to check if the nozzle is clogged or not by doing a cold pull.

Also, be sure to properly heat up the new hot end before attempting to extrude filament in order to prevent any filament jams, particularly if you're using a new filament type that you haven't used before. Documentation for your new hot end and guides online can help you with anything further.

You may have to adjust your endstops.

Is this a printer with an automatic probe?

It has the auto level. If that’s what you mean.

Yes

#

Then your printer should have a Z-offset option in the menu, as the AI mentioned

#

You'll have to adjust that until it's the right amount for your nozzle to sit close enough to the bed

Yeah I have manually leveled it and auto level it and then fiddled with the z off set to no end.

OK.

#

When you've homed the printer, does it sit near the bed?

I cannot see the tip of the nozzle passed the fan cover. If that makes any sense. I’m wondering if I may have just installed it wrong

Hmm I see

#

Or rather, I don't. Can you post a picture?

lunar zenith
#

Not sure if that shows it well

limpid pine
#

Hmm I think I see what's going on

#

I in fact don't see the nozzle, which has me thinking the hot end may be too short for your printer's current set up. However, it's possible there's ways to lower the hot end beyond its current position
