#Layer adhesion issues

Hello all. Recently, I have run into many, many issues with my modified Ender 3. The biggest issue as of recently has been layer adhesion. I'll break it down into the issues to make this easier to read:

  • Lines not overlapping enough, although nozzle settings have been set correctly, and extrusion rate has been set to x2.

  • Poor wall adhesion causes "waves" in walls. This results in poor wall strength.

  • Poor bridging is preventing any top layer details from appearing properly.

As a bit of insight, I was originally using Cura, however I started having issues. Thinking it was possibly the slice, and having eyed simplify3d for so long, I pulled the trigger, but am still experiencing issues there after "dialing in the settings" as best as I could.

Below is a test print I did. You'll see that I have no numbers appearing at all in the top layers, the "bridge" is very poor, and I also have a bit of a stringing issue. I'll try to grab screenshots of all my print settings as well.

Because I'm in slow mode, the prints will come a bit after.

It sounds like you have several issues that could be contributing to poor print quality. Here are a few suggestions that may help:

  1. Check your filament diameter and make sure it is consistent throughout the roll. Inconsistent filament diameter can cause under or over extrusion.

  2. Check your bed leveling and make sure it is properly calibrated. Having a level bed is crucial for achieving good adhesion.

  3. Check the temperature of your hotend and make sure it is consistent throughout the print. Fluctuations in temperature can cause issues with layer adhesion and bridging.

  4. Adjust your retraction settings to reduce stringing. Try increasing your retraction distance and speed.

  5. Make sure your print speed is not too fast. Printing too fast can cause poor layer adhesion and lead to "waves" in walls.

  6. If you're still experiencing adhesion issues, try using a different bed surface such as a glass plate, PEI sheet, or BuildTak.

I hope these suggestions help. Let me know if yo...

I have since adjust the wall print speed, and it is helping with the waves. I'm still looking foe something to help with the poor top details, and the lack of bridging. I haven't tested my button box yet, but it's likely my infill still isn't overlapping properly.

Bumping this just because I'm not sure if this has been removed. I've tried a few calibration cubes, and they seem to be correct dimension wise, just not the prettiest.

Just checking in again because I am still getting serious issues with thin lines. The walls are fine, but the first layer's lines are much too thin.

This post got marked as inactive. I'm just bumping this since I'm still struggling with this issue.
