Hi, I was wondering if people have any tips with printing Atomic PETG filamet. I am currently trying to print a temp tower to figure out what temp is best and already see so many issues that will arise when printing petg. Bed was set to 80C and nozzle 250C (PEI bed). The first two layers had no fan and it was basically all a blob. The fan kicked to 100% after and it seemed a bit better but obvious strining. Any recommendations?

Yes, printing PETG can be tricky, here are some tips:

  1. Use a build surface like PEI, BuildTak, or a glue stick to help with adhesion.
  2. Print slower than you normally would with other filaments. PETG requires a slower and steadier flow rate to prevent under/extrusion and improve layer adhesion.
  3. Adjust your printing temperature in increments of 5°C to see what works best with your printer and filament. Start at a lower temp than recommended by the manufacturer, and gradually increase it until you find the optimal temperature.
  4. Increase your retraction distance (3-5mm) and speed (30-50mm/s) to reduce stringing. You can also try enabling a coasting feature if your slicer supports it.
  5. PETG does not like rapid cooling, so avoid using a cooling fan during the first few layers. After that, gradually increase the cooling fan's speed to reduce stringing.
  6. Check your filament diameter and adjust your slicer settings accordingly. PETG has a lower tolerance for variations in filam...

250C is really high for very tight and small parts

The filament doesn't have the time to cool off enough even with a fan

You can reduce printing speed a little, but be careful to not go so slow as to cause overheating of the filament inside the nozzle
