#KP3S PRO Extruder Issue

I'm having an issue where my extruder will randomly stops extruding mid-print. It's related to retraction in some way because it only stops happening if i use very specific retraction settings (1.5mm and 70mm/s (which are actually quite bad in terms of stringing but it seems i dont have a choice (and even these settings have done it once or twice recently))).
Mid print the extruder motor will just...stop. I'm quite sure that the nozzle isnt jamming because:

  1. the extruder works perfectly as soon as i stop the print and try manually extruding.
  2. its not like the extruder is grinding; the motor literally isnt even trying to spin.
  3. I feel like i would hear it if the motor was step skipping, so i dont think its doing that either (i would also probably see/feel it as vibrations)

I dont think this is a hardware issue, because retraction does work at all speeds and lengths, if i download a gcode straight off one of those retraction test sites. but not if i slice something in cura. idk if other slicers work; i havent tested them.

It sounds like there may be a setting in Cura that is causing the issue with retraction. Have you tried adjusting the retraction settings within Cura, such as the minimum travel and retraction distances?

Another potential issue could be the filament itself. If the filament is too brittle or has a high moisture content, it could cause the extruder motor to stop. Try using a different filament to see if the issue persists.

If neither of these solutions work, it may be worth trying a different slicer to see if the problem persists.

ok im actually so confused now

#

ive been printing for a full day on retraction settings which, on all previous attempts, would have failed the print in 10 minutes

#

wtf

#

did you kiss it or sth?

#

usually that solves a lot of issues for me

#

like fr

#

i kiss it and it works

#

idk why

#

i hope my neighbors dont see it

#

i literally opened this help post to seek help

#

and ever since then its behaved itself

#

seems like it got scared or smthn 🤷‍♂️

#

bit annoying actually cause i never videod it so i have nothing to show to anyone else to demonstrate the issue

#

but i guess if it keeps working its fine; and if it doesnt, then i can video it then

#

but its very strange that the act of asking about it on the internet has scared it into submission
