#Thermal runaway

Hello! Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your printer. It sounds like you may be experiencing a thermal runaway error, where the temperature of the hotend is not being maintained properly. This can happen if the thermistor is not properly connected or if there is an issue with the heating element or controller. Here are some things you can try:
- Make sure the thermistor is properly connected and there are no loose wires. Check the connection on both the thermistor and the control board.
- Test the heating element with a multimeter to make sure it is functioning properly.
- Check if the firmware on your printer is up to date, as newer versions may have addressed the issue.
- If none of these solutions work, it may be worth consulting with the manufacturer or a professional technician to determine if there is a larger issue with the printer.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.
I have a creality cr-10s and i am using cura as slicer.
The filament is PLA 1,75 mm
Make sure you didn’t break the glass on the therm or wire

Does it read any temperature when it's fully cooled down? This will usually match the bed temperature sensor quite accurately. If they don't match, the sensor isn't working properly. If they do match, your heater may not be functioning (properly)
a second let me read
plug printer into pronterface
and constantly monitor temperature
and then send graph after runaway is triggered
sounds like a thermal overshoot due to sh*t PID tunes/broken electronics
@prime reef
We don't know yet if there's any heat at all. Don't jump to conclusions like these
"a few minutes of printing" means print goes fine and is halted by runaway
goes fine = proper heating (not low temp)
Oh. I must've missed that part, sorry.
I apologize, I suck at reading even at 250% scale.
xd
its fine, just saying
low temp isnt the issue
3 main suspects: PID tuning, fried mosfet (constant heating), thermistor issues
too much overshoot during heating can also cause runaway
overheating would have a different error
that'd reach maxtemp
but that's a long way above 200c
overheating can also trigger thermal runaway
maxtemp is triggered when the thermistor shorts as 0 ohm
and mintemp is when thermistor is not detected (no reading)
Or when it literally reaches the max temp allowed as according to the config.
Max temp is at 280+ for the e3
but runaway will trigger faster than maxtemp if its continued heating without permission
at least thats what I experimented with my marlin 2.0.9
i shorted the hotend heater cartridge directly onto the psu, and didnt tell firmware to heat
temp rised 20c and then triggered runaway (i told it to go to 200, after passing 220 runaway triggered)
max temp for ptfe lined is 220, ptfe at 280 would melt and off gas for sure
i suggest change to Capricorn
capricorn is still ptfe, same max temp
capricorn is just a brand, it has better toloerances but still just ptfe, and will make fumes at the same temps
it has less friction
I'm talking about the printer settings. The printer doesn't trigger max temp because of the Teflon tube.
It doesn't care about the Teflon tube
