ive just installed a new hotend (E3Dv6) along with a new heating cartrage and thermistor. i've hooked it up to my pc via a usb cable and started a auto tune with pronterface. but it never stops heating until reaching proterfaces set limit at which pronterface kills the heating it reaches well beyong my requested heat fore the tune( 210C) and reaches upwards of 250C before the heating ends. anyone have any idea whats wrong and how i could fix this?

There could be a few potential issues causing your hotend to overheat. Here are a few troubleshooting steps to try:
-
Make sure that the thermistor is correctly calibrated in your firmware. This will ensure that your printer is accurately reading the temperature of the hotend, and can help prevent it from overshooting.
-
Check your PID settings. If your printer's PID settings are not calibrated correctly, it can cause the hotend to overshoot the target temperature. You can find guides online on how to adjust the PID settings for your 3D printer.
-
Check the wiring connections between the hotend and the printer board. A loose connection or a short may be causing the hotend to overheat.
-
Check the power supply. If your power supply is not providing enough voltage, it may not be able to power your hotend correctly. Make sure your power supply is providing the correct voltage and amperage for your printer.
Try these troubleshooting steps and let me know if any of them help res...

Voxelab aquila x2 (ender 3 clone) its using the basic firmware they provide on their website only mods done are a cr touch the hotend i mentioned before a new fan for the fan shroud and a 3d printed fan shroud
im not sure what you mean by ensure the thermistor is correctly calibrated i dont have a option to change anything with that
How are you tuning the PID via Pronterface? Just sending M303 ?
no, heres my full command M303 E0 C10 S200
and this happends when attempting to start a print as well
@signal carbon
But it doesn't heat up on its own while just idling?
no only when its told to heat up
it just does not stop
i mean its got to be a issue with the heating cartage right?
Are you sure you got the heater cartridge for the right voltage?
thats probably it but how whould i check that? the heater cartage voltage was not mentioned when i bought it
Do you have a multimeter?
no unfortunatly
How fast does it heat up?
that will take a moment to find out i took it apart to see if something was wrong
Does it heat up significantly faster than the previous hotend?
yes
Might be a 12V cartridge
and what are they normally suppost to be?
yup package sayd 12v 40w
i originally assumed it was referring to the 12v fan that they slap on to e3d hotends
@signal carbon
It should be the same voltage rated as the power supply of the printer puts out. 40W 12V cartridge connected to 24V will have 160W
so its receiving too much power then?
Drawing too much power for this autotune to control nicely
so if im shopping for a new one what voltage am i looking for
Check your power supply, but I'd assume 24V
It should be written on the sticker on the PSU
ill look i guess
it may be possible that i could reuse the old heating cartrage
any ideas on how to undo a tiny tripped allen wrench screw?
Thats the old heating block and to remove the heating cartridge id have to get that screw out
@signal carbon
Usually best way is to hammer a torx bit in, heat the heater block up, even could be with a lighter, then try to unscrew and try to not burn yourself on hot block nor bit/wrench
