Hi, I'm new to 3D printing. I am looking to get a beginner friendly FDM Printer for about $200-$300.
Some of the things I am planning:
-Helmets/cosplay armor (I love Star Wars lol)

  • Terrain for tabletop war games like Star Wars Legion (Star Wars Again :] )
  • Possibly some figures/ statues

I am also looking for a printer that is not too loud as well as a compact one that with enough space to print armor, but not too large for said terrain I wanted to print.

I greatly appreciate any and all help, even if you just stopped by! Thanks!

AI Help

Hi! Welcome to the world of 3D printing. For your budget and requirements, I would recommend the Ender 3 or the Ender 3 Pro. They both offer a large build volume, are very capable of printing helmets, terrain, and figures, and are known for producing high-quality prints.

One thing to keep in mind is that printing helmets and larger objects may require multiple prints and assembly. It's also important to note that you'll need to use different types of filaments based on what you are printing. Filaments like ABS, PETG, and Nylon are great for end-use objects such as armor, while PLA and resin are better suited for small figures, statues, and prints that you'll display.

As for noise level, the Ender 3 and Ender 3 Pro are relatively quiet, and you can further reduce the noise with some minor upgrades such as rubber feet, a quieter fan, and dampeners.

Overall, the Ender 3 and Ender 3 Pro are great starting points in 3D printing and won't break the bank. Let me know if you have any ot...

Quick Question

#

Will I be able to run the printer in an air conditioned room?

#

I don't know how long prints usually take but I'm assuming larger prints take days, and I prefer to sleep with the ac on

quartz spindle
#

should be fine if its not to cold in your room (some filaments like ABS or ASA print better in a heated chamber but PLA and PETG should be fine)

I run the ac at about 60-65 degrees f is that too cold?

Unit Conversion:

65.0 degree fahrenheit = 18.33 C

Gotcha, I'll find another place for it

18°C should be fine for PLA or PETG but other filaments like to print in warmer enviroments

What exactly are PLA and Petg?

#

What are the qualities and what do they stand for?

PLA is an easy to print material and PET-G is a slightly modification of the plastic that your Plastic bottles are made

#

PLA is one of the cheapest, doesnt smell and is the perfect material for a beginner.

Tysm I greatly appreciate it

#

How quickly does one usually go through filament?

If you have 1kg than it should last for many hours of printing.

#

I have about 150hours of printing time and used about 1.5-2kg of filament
