As the title suggests, I'm wondering about velocity tuning. I believe I have figured out bed leveling but now I want to add some more speed. I'm using a Sonic Pad on a Creality S1 Pro. I have been using the speed % increase slider, but i've been told that I should be using the Velocity slider as well.

Velocity tuning can help you to increase the printing speed of your 3D printer without compromising the print quality. The velocity slider adjusts the maximum speed of the printer, while the speed % increase slider adjusts the acceleration and deceleration.

To start velocity tuning, you will need to perform a series of test prints at progressively higher speeds. The idea is to find the maximum speed that your printer can handle without compromising print quality. Here are the steps:

  1. Start by setting a baseline speed for your printer (e.g. 50mm/s).
  2. Print a test object at this speed, and inspect the quality. If it's good, increase the speed by 5-10mm/s and print another test object. Keep doing this until you start to see problems with the print quality, such as layer shifting or stringing.
  3. Once you've found the maximum speed that your printer can handle, back it off by 5-10mm/s to give yourself some margin for error.
  4. Repeat the process for different types of prints and m...
