So I've just upgraded to an SKR 1.4 turbo board on my ender 3 to get dual z alignment with separate z stepper drivers and I'm having an issues seemingly with my BL touch v2. I loaded my FW and the screen just stays kind of dim blue. I plugged in my octoprint and verified that the FW is working correctly other than the screen and the Bl touch is not lit up and I noticed the wires starting to get warm...... Clearly there's a wiring issue but everything is wired like it's supposed to according to the dozens of diagrams I've seen. Any ideas here. I'm about to call it quits and pick a different board. To be clear it's blue and red wires getting warm on the Bl touch.......but it seems to be plugged in correctly according to every single bit of info I've seen.
Oh and if I unplug the Bl touch and turn the printer on, the screen works fine. 🤷
I really like this board but I'm about ready to just pick a different board. What a headache. Seems like they really just screwed up on a few areas of design with this board that are kind of a huge PITA

It sounds like there might be a short circuit in the wiring for the BL touch. I would recommend double-checking all of the wiring connections to make sure they are seated correctly, and ensure that there are no exposed or frayed wires that could be causing a short. If you are still having issues, you may want to try swapping out the BL touch for a new one to see if that solves the problem. Additionally, make sure that you have the correct firmware installed on the board for the BL touch, as using the wrong firmware can cause issues like the one you are seeing. If you're still having issues after trying these steps, you may want to reach out to the manufacturer for further support.
I am absolutely not taking any advice from your chat bot. Zero chance. I have seen your work and it's C+ at best
The Bl touch is still good. I'm no chump so I was able to test it off the printer after starting this whole process, so I'm not replacing it if I can confirm it's functioning. The firmware is Marlin 2.1.2. There's nothing wrong with it either and I'm happy to post it. Considering the pins in use, there's also zero chance that firmware is causing heat to build in the wires so. Hopefully there's a human being with better advice than this chat gpt branch lol
?
I've also tried:
Unplugging one of the ground wires since their traces merge inside the bltouch and only one is necessary, redefining the bltouch pin in the firmware, measuring voltages on the pins, I can't think of anything other than I picked the wrong board, though with that being said there's no reason it shouldn't be working.....
looking at https://github.com/bigtreetech/BIGTREETECH-SKR-V1.3/issues/207 it seems like you arent alone in having to clear some roadblocks.
The BLtouch wires should not get warm, that indicates a short which can fry the hall sensor in the bltouch. please share your Configuration files and let us know whether the original z endstop is still connected.
(and yes, take the chatgpt info with caution, see the note at the bottom)
Yup. I literally just figured it out! WHOOP WHOOP
Also I gave bad info, I have an antclabs bl touch 3.1 and.....
BEHOLD THE PROPER PINOUT!!!
This was also 110% on antclabs.....
I want my 3 and a half hours back dammit. 😂
good you got it working! Feel free to close this request with ?solved
