just set the printer up, performed all the auto stuff, bed level, z level

fucked up the manual probe height so now i have a deep gouge in the PEI surface, oh well

my problem is, the bed seems to be further back than what the printer itself thinks it is, ive done the auto home, and stored config after, several times, but yet it still "grinds out" or what to call it, no sure what the term is, but when it moves forward it makes that nasty stepper noise, is this normal?

AI Help

The grinding noise you are hearing is likely the stepper motor trying to move the axis beyond its physical limits. It sounds like your printer thinks the bed is further forward than it actually is.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

  1. Check the physical orientation of the bed - make sure it is aligned properly and there are no obstructions preventing it from moving forward.
  2. Check the endstop switch that triggers when the bed reaches the farthest forward position. Make sure it's securely in place and functioning properly.
  3. Double-check your printer's configuration settings. Make sure the "bed size" and "bed origin" settings are correct.
  4. Try manually moving the bed with the printer turned off to see if there is any resistance or issue with the movement.
  5. If all else fails, try recalibrating the printer's firmware by updating it to the latest version and repeating the calibration process from scratch.

I hope these steps help you identify and fix...

ive managed to tune the z height during a very spaced off print from the bed, to make it print nicely

#

but the bed error remains

#

im scared to try to print a large square to see where the bed lines up in virtual space

#

but maybe thats first step to figuring out problem idk
