Guh, I just got home to a messed up print. So this has happened twice now. It'll print fine to start with, then like half way through the print, it'll basically have a break in the layers, then it'll go back to printing fine?

It sounds like you are experiencing what is known as a "layer shift". This is typically caused by a mechanical issue with your printer, such as loose belts or pulleys, or possibly even a misaligned print bed. I recommend checking these components and making sure everything is tight and in the correct position. Additionally, you may want to check that your slicer software settings are accurate, as incorrect settings could also cause layer shifts during printing.

I tend to like printing PLA+ at much higher temps, try 230C. Also is the break in the layers consistent at a specific Z?

sometimes either the extruder doesn't have grip on the filament or the extruder motor doesn't get enough current to push the filament throu

you can usually tell if the extruder is skipping by listening out for a clicking noise as the extruder pushes filament, if you look at the extruder assembly you might see the extruder gears skip steps visually

#

you can also try printing a different file that would get to the problem height, such as a calibration cube. If the break in print happens even on that model, you might have some mechanical issues preventing the filament from smoothly feeding into the extruder/hotend at that z height

Okie dokie. I ended up messing up last night and did something to the printer that I'll have to ship it back to Amazon anyways, so I'll see if it happens on the replacement too
