silicone pad under and with the Pcb/module*
And are there any known third party cases that allow the use of the Silicone bedding under the pcb that you know of? These are important points for me to know as I order a Kboard
Yes it fully fits friction fit pad but it has its own foam piece
So you don’t use the silicone case foam at the bottom, but rather a custom cut piece of foam made just to fit the optimum case dimensions and height
So it is ONLY the aluminium v2 case where the silicone pad fits?
Not specifically only that one but we designed the silicone case pad for that specific case height.
Cases typically come with their own foam kits based on their own special dimensions and fit. So for example our v2 alu comes with foam and silicone options, optimum comes with its own foam, Kdbfans tofu comes with its own foam.
Foam overall is a much more popular sound profile, which is why most brands go with that.
Why's the foam more desirable than silicone
most people prefer the sound of foam instead of silicone
more of a deeper sound tone than silicone
I'm going to touch you.
Foam = deeper sound profile
Silicone = more... Clacky?
yeah clackier and muted for silicone
I see. Are there any Wooting 60HE v2 compatible cases aside from the base one?
Specifically any drop-in ones?
Many. Ask in the modding channel and they can point you to them. We also sell a few of them ourselves
Where's this channel?
Thank you. What is the tray mount foam replacement layer?
I saw the graph difference between kb and module only
I never got an answer to this
tray mount layer only comes if you bought module version of 60he v2 and it's only there as a backup in case you want to use an older case or a case that's not friction fit compatible
if you're friction fitting then you don't need it basically
I would be using a TOFU60?
that is friction fit compatible. Watch the latest video on our youtube and it shows you how to ground it properly after friction fit, so no need to use tray mount foam
What if I were to use foam instead of the silicone pad?
then you cannot friction fit anymore and you'd have worse sound and be forced to tray mount (if you mean the tray mount foam)
tl;dr there's basically no reason you'd want to use the tray mount foam layer with how you're setting up your keyboard. You can still use the foam/silicone case foam options with the silicone friction fit layer
Ah I see, you can use case foam WITH the friction pad?
yes, case foam is different to friction fit/tray mount layers
totally different things
I see. So I have 0 reason to give a F about the tray mount layer. Understood, thank you
What is the best course of action for either thocky or creamy sound profiles with the keyboard?
I’d ask in #🔧│keyboard_modding - lots of folks there who can advise
Hello, where do I contact wooting regarding damaged products on arrival? My aluminum case is scarred
Scroll up to the bot response for links.
I don't understand how I find my device serial number
Then skip that and wait for assistance.
Could I ask, was I meant to receive a wooting foam pad along with my pre-assembled PCB (tape, silicone pad) and Aluminium V2 case?
no, just the case foam. The tray mount foam only comes with modules
I meant case foam, I didn't receive this
check the box, underneath
a lot of people don't realise the bottom opens up
there's a layer under the keyboard that has your case foam
A layer under...?
yes the cardboard box opens up below your keyboard
when you take the keyboard out, there's another layer below it that can open - your foam is in there
I will try this, I do however think I opened this.
This is what’s supposed to be in the package with your module
Thank you very much, I will look
I found it, thank you. What's the difference between using this foam pad or the silicone at the bottom of the aluminium v2?
In terms of sound
Just tone preference - most prefer foam for deeper sound tone
Even though the silicone is thicker?
I also see that there are two layers to the foam pad.
Could you answer these two things?
thickness doesn't mean deeper. Type of material matters more. The foam is measured so it will fit just right, don't pull the foam apart.
just pick whichever bottom layer you like the sound more - it's totally up to you which material you prefer
Thank you again boss
The extra foam bit, is that to replace stuff like the brass plate in TOFU cases?
if you mean with the specially ordered one with the tofu then yes you use that to fill the hole, but if you mean the general foam then no
So I cannot use this foam pad for a tofu case for example and would be forced to use the HE foam pad or the included ones?
tofu has it's own foam that you'd use usually
our case foam/silicone is fit for our case
use the tofu foam with the tofu
"Hello, it's me again..."
