Hi, so I did wheel weights (steel) mod to my tofu 60 case. Will my 60 he pcb get short circuit if i didnt put foam in my case? I cant put foam in my case cus i cant screw it in. So my only option is to remove foam and go foamless or remove the weights and put the foam back in?

Forgot to hit save on the second reply.

No you should absolutely not start adding anything taller than the foam, to ensure the PCB doesn't make contact with any metal, and to let the PCB breathe

Maybe you can use the copper pillar to increase the height

Like this, of course you need to make sure the back side haven't touch short circuit otherwise ‘boom’

You can cover the weights with Kapton tape to isolate the PCB and metal to avoid a short

But overall, I think this could be risky as the foam can compress slightly, ensuring that no IC gets too much pressure applied. The metal weights, on the other hand, can apply constant pressure if they make contact, so if there isn’t enough clearance and these make contact, it could cause an issue

(edit) looks like you applied a tape mod to the PCB witch can also isolated it from a short

the steel weight is I think 1mm or less higher from the case, is that generally okay?

#

and surprisingly without the bottom case foam, the sound of my board improved ngl so yea I dont think im going to use foam on this build now.

yea I covered the steel weights with painters tape, was thinking of covering it with electrical tape I thought electrical tape will be thick and will add pressure to the pcb if ever

#

Yes I can still screw it in without the foam. Im just not so sure if the pcb is having contact with the steel weights and having pressure on the psb @scenic pasture @heady kelp

if the bottom of the PCB is covered with tape like in the original picture you are fine (cant short what is covered)
