Has wooting ever thought of entering the ergo keyboard space? The one where the keys are gradually raised? It is the natural position for your wrist and needs to be looked into as the next best thing for gamers.

Because it is flat

# cedar hemlock Ooh you are talking about alice layout

Ergo should be tented and ideally a split layout. There are mech ergos out there, issue is NONE have the analogue keys like Woot do. I reckon something like the ZSA Moonlander and an optional macro keypad and optional numpad keypad switchable for connecting on the left or right pad. Kinda like this image I generated (AI so please excuse the 50 million cables)

#

And yeah I agree @silent arrow, I love my Wooting Two but have dodgy genetics so wrists aren't loving it as much as I am 😅

Making product that would buy like 200 people is not worth for them

Here's a quick napkin calculation on a google search of the market cross section:

Ergonomic Mice and Keyboards market - projected $8.5 Billion by 2025, 12% CAGR common citing "gamers seeking enhanced performance and comfort" as a key driver instead of just corporate wellness.

Gaming Peripherals market is projected to hjiot $22.48 Billion by 2032, 10.1% CAGR regularly citing "ergonomic design," "comfort during extended sessions," and "RSI prevention"

But sure.... There's no market there for ergo devices....

Calder said once about keyboards like that. If you give him Market stats etc that Show people are interested in this type of product, they would make it.

#

Literally what ceo said

#

xdd but still atleast two founders have to agree

green bear
#

This is the whole point of a feedback thread - it's basically the only path the publiuc have to do so

#

I mean if they open source their PCB in the same way they do the rest of their hardware I'm happy to go and make my own 😄

cedar hemlock

cedar hemlock
#

But there is open source hall effect keyboard project i saw on reddit.

cedar hemlock
green bear
#

Yeah there's a few but you have issues then with firmware etc

#

yeah exactly, if it's basically a split Woot Two for example that takes care of that

#

But yeah private dev is a lot more involved

cedar hemlock
#

You want split?

#

There is keyboard made by asus

green bear
#

Not analogue though so far as I've seen

cedar hemlock
#

But obviously it is not wooting.

green bear
#

all existing are either not mech or yeah then there's build quality etc

cedar hemlock
#

Oh you want gamepad features

green bear
#

Like I mentioned earlier there's stuff like ZSA Moonlander but yeah would be better built with Woot standards and Lekker keys

#

There's lots of other brands too (can't remember, but missus has one of them) same issues though

#

ErgoDox, Dygma Defy, ZSA Moonlander (still can't remember the one my partner is using) - found it Keychron Q11

cedar hemlock
#

So like i said there wouldnt be split wooting unless you give Market research to calder.

#

Thats what he said

#

In other post about split or ergo keyboard

#

So basicly he meants, unless you show me data that lots of people would buy it, i wont make this type of keyboard until that time.

green bear
#

Yuuuuup. Whole point of feedback posts - neg responses though do nothing except detract from involvement

# green bear Here's a quick napkin calculation on a google search of the market cross section...

So that it's not buried with all the neg above:

Marketshare for ergo-gaming crossover

Ergonomic Mice and Keyboards market - projected $8.5 Billion by 2025, 12% CAGR common citing "gamers seeking enhanced performance and comfort" as a key driver instead of just corporate wellness.

Gaming Peripherals market is projected to hjiot $22.48 Billion by 2032, 10.1% CAGR regularly citing "ergonomic design," "comfort during extended sessions," and "RSI prevention"

cedar hemlock
#

But wooting is mainly gaming brand u know.

#

But we will see what they think, after they came back from their yearly meet up

green bear
#

"common citing "gamers seeking enhanced performance and comfort" as a key driver instead of just corporate wellness."

astral pagoda
#

Don't worry it's perfectly fine to leave feedback, it's what this section is for. This guy does not work for Wooting.

cedar hemlock
#

Because i do not

#

I just told him, what calder said in simmiliar feedback thread

green bear
#

We can attach files here too can't we? I'll write something up I guess.

cedar hemlock
#

Discord have huge character limit

#

If you want use files send them email with pdf hm

green bear
#

<@&490097707487330305> is there a better place to provide a detailed report on the market share for a potential product or

green bear
cedar hemlock
#

Or you can write everything here

#

Though email would give you faster answer

green bear
#

Email would be better, report will need to cover quite a significant amount (engineering and manufacturing background so will be along those lines)

wintry ingot
#

Feedback threads are read by wooting employees, don't worry. You can leave what you need in this thread and it'll be read

cedar hemlock
#

Well simon definetly reads his threads

wintry ingot
#

We don't give a reply to every thread but they get read and passed around internally if we see something interesting or useful

green bear
#

I'll look into it tonight after work (AEST)

wintry ingot

Mostly I think for ergonomic keyboards the tricky part is the niche for wanting it is very niched down into a very very small segment. For example they'd need to want a gaming keyboard, then need to be an ergonomic keyboard user, then need to be an ergonomic keyboard user interested in wootings offering. It gets real tricky making products once you segment down that much

green bear
#

A bit, the hardest part IMO would be the retooling, marketing yeaaah but retooling will be a large overhead

#

Using a modular approach though would allow them to reuse things like the external numpad and develop a macro pad etc

short schooner
#

I would love a split ergo wooting board akin to the qk alice duo for example smile

short schooner
#

Also, you could market the split as an even more compact gaming keyboard for fps players, where you can put the unused half out of the way for even more mousing space

green bear
#

Also brain is a bit fried so my AUD to Euro conversions might be a bit iffy. But yeah.
