Out of caution, I recommend removing the PCB from the case and checking underneath the PCB for any corrosion or rust
(also send a ticket - not normal the steel switch plat rusts)

Well the rust has been on the keyboard for a while now, but I took a look at it today and started wondering. So do you still think it is necessary? Played on it for atleast 1-2 months

or do you think it is good to check anyway? Wont take long I guess

ahh ok even stranger - with the rust i kind of expected the keyboard to be 1-2 years old so thought this may be the result of a spill in the past

I will have a check on the PCB later. Do you any tips on either replacing the stabilizers or cleaning them? One of my stabilizers also stopped working is that included in the warranty too?

the entire keyboard is covered

as for stabs not working - something may of fallen between the causing them to jam or plastic may of broken/cracked - hard to say with current information

they to be pretty simple (wire,stem,housing)

I built a few keyboards myself before my wooting so I know a thing or too. I will def have a check later on the stabilizer

They are also full crusty, do you think cleaning them in water and relubing them afterwards will do the job?

yea i assume over the year the grease/lube may of picked up a bit of dust /debree

so can't hurt and if they broken/damage best to take a picture and include this with the switch plate ticket 🙂

This may not affect the keyboard at all, but there is a possibility that the Right side of the Switch plate may flex slightly, possibly causing some issues, but this is hard to say for certain.

this is the difference between older newer PCB (older top)

the keybaord comes with a few extra screw so you may have these already

• (red) Leds look to be pushed from below from how the metal is bent (very strange) also missing the plastic and one is half remain never seen that before

Yeah it is working like 50/50. I have aqua blue color and it is showing like light blue and dark blue at the same time

I was going to do the bandaid mod on the stabilizers but do you think I should wait if I need to get the pcb replaced?

So this is a bit of a strange one.

• Coating
  The PCB is coated with a water-resistant coating (not waterproof), with the exception of the area near the programming pins (close to the spacebar) and the USB-C port. You may notice some flaking around these two areas.

• Programming pins
  There appear to be some signs of corrosion, possibly caused by moisture or humidity, but it's hard to say for certain. I recommend cleaning this area with some IPA and a soft brush or Q-tip to prevent further development and potential shorting of the pins (which could cause issues).

• USB-C port area
  This appears to be in good condition.

• Based on the above, I suspect the foam may have absorbed moisture and pooled at the bottom of the case (as it's on a slight angle). This moisture likely caused the corrosion. After cleaning the area, consider adding a bit of tape to further isolate the programming pins from the foam.

• The LEDs
  This part is very strange. The damage looks like the LEDs may have experienced a sharp, quick force that caused the plastic to either be entirely or partially removed (I haven't seen this before). This shouldn't happen from regular use, so I don't believe we can cover this under warranty.

The good news is that the pads look to be in good condition, so if you have soldering tools and experience, you could buy some replacement LEDs and fix them (though I can't guarantee a full fix).

I have been using the standard case all the time and I have been using this for nearly 3 years now. Same case same everything

Would it be possible for something? I even preordered the keyboard before the 1st launch

Sorry to say, but the state of the LEDs should not occur from normal use. If the keyboard had arrived in that condition, it would be a clear factory/assembly issue. But since it happened over the years, it may indicate the switches were inserted the wrong way and poked or broke the LEDs, which is not covered.

What do you mean with normal use? Like I had the keyboard moded?

I haven’t removed the switches at any time over the years

I’m not sure but I think when it arrived I only had to install the keycaps

I tend to see this sometimes from people inserting the switch the wrong way, but that usually shows the metal bent downwards or the LED plastic being tilted—not completely gone.

I only have foam underneath the pc and the foam thing under the plate

The kit included a much more flexible plate than the one before. The foam for underneath the plate and some silicone

• 8. PET film "tape mod"

the switch plate I sent should be a "steel switch plate" and that comes with a foam sandwich

in this case, it sounds like you received the "PC switch plate" that comes with a silicone sandwich and is softer/more flexible pc

can you attempt to overlay the new switch plate and see if all the screws line up, as you may have gotten a PC one that may not be compatible?

(note the Replacement PCB comes with a steel Switch plate so if the new one doesn't work you can wait for the PCB and use that)

Doesn’t seem to be working. I think it might be because the screw is very old and when I needed to check the led on the pcb it made the screw hole bigger

sound like the brass insert threads may be bent/broke causing the issue.

just to note the replacement PCB comes with

• 60HE ABS case
• Case foam
• Sandwich foam

and at this point may be better waiting for that and just swap over the switch's/stablizers into the keyboard as the old one kind looks busted

I requested the pcb screws, but I am not sure I was 100% clear. I wanted the same screw as the one that is stuck and not the screws behind, today I received screws to the back of the pcb and not to the case. That was hopefully all

i think the screws for the PCB/case use M2 so they should work for both (the replacement comes with aswell so you have them aswell)

the switch doesn’t rust, most likely residue from the switch plate. You may want to wipe this away and the switches would be good as new

Maybe a bit of a damp paper towel too (avoid the bottem to not wipe away any lube)

I have a quick question and was hoping you might know a bit about this. I’m considering switching my keyboard case to a Tofu60 (first version of the case, i think), and I was wondering whether I need any kind of foam to do so — mainly to make sure the PCB and LEDs don’t get damaged.

I’m also curious if it’s possible to buy the Tenz keycaps on their own?
