As anyone discovers when doing an inch of research beyond big store brands, this is a whole thing. So I’ve spent near 2 weeks researching everything I can stand.

For now, this keyboard and whatever mouse (my next hunt) will be for Xbox, until one day I find myself in a situation to get a full computer setup.

I have come down to getting the NuPhy Air60HE for my first for the versatility and comfort, and of course, speed and software.

I am seriously eager to join the Wooting club and most of my time has been spent trying to beat the Wooting 80HE.

I couldn’t quite pull the trigger on the 80 as that spacebar would drive me bonkers, though the way ppl talk I’m convinced I could figure out how to fix that. What I can’t fix, is the specific layout they chose for their TKL. Giving me Apple flashbacks. For a company that is so pro mod, I feel I need time to watch y’all from the sidelines awhile.

I cannot stress how much I want to join y’all. By far overall my favorite keeb company since the moment I started researching.

Is there a plan for a more inclusive 80%HE? Probably not, please correct me if I’m wrong.

Is there a plan for a 65-75% relatively standard layout?

My biggest hunt, is there a plan for any low profile anything Wooting?

From one that is totally new to the scene, seems like those low profile jade switches are a lot more sturdy and manageable. Think they’ll take off?

Where besides NuPhy does a LP HE PCB exist in any capacity so I can just learn to build a board around those switches?

If anyone has any two-cents toward this before I find a mouse to pair with the NuPhy and most likely purchase today, My Lord knows I eagerly await it

Thank you in advance.

Could you clairfy more on the spacebar and 'inclusive' 80he?

#

as for other layouts/low profile that would likely take a while

#

and not anytime soon

#

low profile he isnt popular as it generally is spreading itself too thin

#

it is a good product dont get me wrong, but there are others that excel at what they are meant to do

#

and a low profile and hall effect is kinda conflicting

brave ginkgo
#

The ping that reminds of a typewriter when the bar lifts

Wooting 80HE is designed to keep you within Wooting, though I’m not here to say whether that’s good or bad

Thanks for the info mate! Nice double-entendre too lol

It’s definitely a finer tune, I don’t see the conflicting though?

#

Aside from quality control, what does it not excel at? From what I’m read they’ve got their software up to snuff, I’ll be using the Canopus keys, the bottom may scratch but as far as the inner build I know they cut out some stuff to replace with foam and silicone. Though if I buy from Amazon and get their 3 year warranty, is it not a worthy option? Really trying to learn, not trying to be dense

brave ginkgo
#

Oof, that was probably bad manners here. My bad

lilac raptor
#

i do like the layout for practical use, its the perfect layout for me

#

but i also like good cases outside wooting ofc, and that sucks

#

the constance tkl case was smt i wanted pepe_cry

brave ginkgo
#

Yup, that’s about like what I was after as well

#

Maybe with a nob or roller. 🤷‍♂️

lilac raptor
#

low profile is usually for ergo/working use and not something gamers like

#

i cant really explain it but its just not that popular

#

at least not smt id personally delve into since theres only 1 switch option

brave ginkgo
#

Oh I hear ya. It’s just I spent 7 of my formative years on WoW with a Mac laptop 👀

#

And I learned to like the lighter touch. Better on the wrist and just easier to manage keys. Always seemed like a no brainer to me, though I do understand I am the minority.

lilac raptor
#

👍 i like lighter touch but for me that usually just mean lighter springs

#

i have the geon raws 50gf on my wooting rn

#

the jade low profile on the nuphys iirc is not a traditional low profile and is the same travel distance as their other jades

brave ginkgo
#

Yeah I noticed that. The spring just goes through the pcb, they just made it a hell of a lot sturdier from only what I can see on a screen, albeit 0.07mm less distance

brave ginkgo
#

Wait. 0.7, not 0.07

lilac raptor
brave ginkgo
#

Yeah

lilac raptor
#

and the normal jades are 3.5

brave ginkgo
#

Aaah. Ok true. But, sturdier yeah?

lilac raptor
brave ginkgo
#

And probably inherently more thoccy

lilac raptor
#

it might be

#

maybe ill try it out sometime, but i am alr spending a fk ton on random things rn

brave ginkgo
#

lol fair enough.

lilac raptor
#

not sure if someone has tested the jade lows on a wooting yet

#

i might buy one to just try

brave ginkgo
#

I don’t think it’s possible. Need a special pcb to get the stem in.

lilac raptor
#

oh ya nvm

#

i never seen it's stem

#

shame

brave ginkgo
#

As far as I know, the NuPhy is the only in the world with it, aside from apparently there was a keyboard that came out only in Japan that did LP HE first, but it failed

#

Indeed
