#WOOTING 80HE DEADZONE?
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
deadzone is more like 0.1-0.2 somewhere
keep in mind charts say the deadzone + starting actuation/rt amount
It was said that the dead zone was higher than expected in the initial firmware. Has it been improved since then? [ALPHA V6]
probably not yet as they've been focusing on stability stuff first, but i'm sure it'll be improved over time to get it back to closer to 0.1 like the 60he
0.1 is roughly the standard where it seems you can get it down to that, but going lower tends to have issues as seen in a lot of the chinese boards offering sub 0.1 deadzone
That's right, just like in the early days of 60HE, I heard that 80HE's dead zone is a bit high. I saw a YouTuber's bench and was curious to see if there has been any improvement.
60he was close to 0.1 deadzone, 80he is more like 0.15-0.18 or so, so they'll finetune it over time to get it back down
I hope it improves like 60HE after stability is established.
if you're worried that much about deadzone then have a look at TTC Kom switches
or the ttc uranus esports for example. They both are stable enough that it takes the deadzone down to like 0.03 it seems
deadzone is also dependant on the switches and how much wiggle they have at bottom out
for example, you can get a wooting 80he down to almost no deadzone when using the TTC box stem switches as seen in this video https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1zH1zYcEHN/?spm_id_from=333.337.search-card.all.click
Thank you. I heard that the Lekker V2 switch keys have a really good feel, so I'm going to try using it like this for now.
I didn't know that the dead zone could be adjusted with a switch.
in the video you'll see the lekker v2 are at 0.3 or so, then when it's swapped to ttc kom/uranus esports it's 0.18
which is 0.15 rt+0.03 deadzone
That's right, even on the YouTuber's bench I saw, the dead zone below 80he was set to 0.3.
so in effect the wooting already actually is able to get very tiny deadzone depending on the switch
The dead zone of the lekker v2 switch may be improved with future firmware, right?
maybe a little, but some of the deadzone is just going to be there because the switch itself has a tiny amount of movement left/right/up/down for example - and that will be measured into the release
that's why the chinese switch industry suddenly became obsessed with box stem switches. They're way more stable bottom out so = less deadzone from the switch itself, but they do have the downside that they don't feel as smooth as non box stem
China is developing towards extreme performance. Thank you.
Is this the switch you are talking about?
yeah, magneto come in regular magneto and magneto rgb and also ttc uranus esports is similar design
I believe it is a switch installed on melgeek made68.
magneto rgb is the tightest measured if you care about it being as low deadzone as possible
Are you saying that the dead zone of the Magneto RGB is smaller than that switch in the picture?
it should be by a very very very tiny amount
when measured at bottom out movement the magneto vs magneto rgb, the magneto rgb wobble a very tiny amount less, which means more stable bottom out
but both are already very very stable at bottom out
Can you tell me a sales site for Magneto RGB compatible with Wooting 80HE?
aliexpress has vendors that sell it https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007813886835.html
for example this is one korean tester that measured the movement for a few switches
This is a YouTuber I watch often too.
0.15 is still a bit high when others like nuphy are offering 0.01/3 while being almost flawless also.
it's not flawless and that's not how it works
0.01 is often accompanied via a separate deadzone setting intended for the user to artificially add back in deadzone because it's actually too low to use (and it often comes with separate issues such as increased latency due to needing more noise control or issues with stability if they go no noise control). It's why the geon venom went from 0.1 deadzone to 0 deadzone then back to 0.1 deadzone again - it just causes more issues than needed
you'll notice the nuphy 60he for example has a release latency that is higher than their press latency and actually higher than the wooting 80he
lower deadzone/rt doesn't mean better. It's about finding a balance of lowest usable actuation/rt vs. noise control and usability without adding extra latency
That means for NuPhy Halo65 HE or Nyphy Air60HE press latency (even though its faster than wooting 80he) + release latency combined, is slower than wooting 80 he total latency from press latency + release latency combined?
the press latency is roughly same as 80he (iirc it was like 0.2ms or so), the release latency is higher at 0.3something
some guess that this is due to the higher signal processing required for the super low 0.01 type levels, but that's just a rough guess from reviewers
oh wow, i thought the Halo65HE has like 0.01 latency vs wooting 0.15?
nah 0.01 numbers is just boards quoting marketing actuation mm measurements etc, but that's all fluff and realistically no one needs or want actuation/rt that low
and as explained above it can actually lead to more issues with latency and key presses
i was watching https://youtu.be/dBKp0v065i4?t=445 (the link is timestamped, he was using 0.02mm) didnt seem to have issues though.

I have no issues with brandon taylor, but he does 'feel' reviews where there's no actual data and it's just an overlook of the product specs stated by the manu

Very informative video! nad the auto translate subs sometimes make it hard to understand.
Btw was watching this deadzone from wooting 60he+ 80he https://youtu.be/wmuB3DIFZlU?t=1420 (timestamped) seems like wooting he60+ is better tuned compared to wooting 80HE
can wooting 80HE catch up to wooting he60+? can this be fix by a simple software update or firmware update? or is this usually a hardware issue where wooting have to release wooting 80he+ or something?

Yeah it can be tuned in the future. Iโm sure theyโll get it back down closer to that ideal 0.1 mark once they have more time to focus on it
Itโs purely a firmware thing
Thank you so much, Eyejoker is very informative! do you have any good informative youtuber for keycaps or Hall effect keyswitch?
particularly looking for PBT materials keycaps and Cant decide beside TTC King of magnetic swtich or Geon Raw HE (40s vs 50s) as well
