I just received my Two HE and began putting it together (inserting keycaps). When I got to the backspace key, I noticed that it doesn't seem to be depressing fully and seems to get stuck repeating inputs when held down. The backspcae keycap works fine on all other spots with the same key size (numpad enter for example)[. What troubleshooting steps are there that I can take?

To add, the key also feels like it's going into honey instead of going down easily like all others
If you remove the keycap and test each point, do you notice anything that stands out?
Testing the center lekker switch, does it get stuck or have issues moving?
If you raise/lower the stabilizer stem and place pieces left/right, do they get stuck or experience friction?
- Side note: these do not have a spring, so they should fall back down when released.
the switch itself works fine, when I press it in with my finger without a cap on it
as for the stabilizer stems, is it safe to pull on them with tweezers to test?
yes that would be fine
when one raises the other one should also (linked by a stablzier wire)
yes
when i pulled them up, they slowly sink back down
but the spacebar stabilizers dont do that
and the spacebar worked fine
i can send a video perhaps
It might be that the stabilizers are overly greased, the stabilizer wire is not properly attached, or the stabilizer stem was inserted in the wrong orientation. the last one hasn't happened in a while since it was addressed.
You could attempt to remove the stabilizer to see if there is anything that could explain the problem. Simply swapping the stabilizer from left/right might solve the problem.

also Videos always tend to help 🙂
does removing the stabilizer require pulling out all the keycaps to take the top plate off?
not keycaps, switches
hmm that looks about normal for the raising the stablizer stem part
after being pressed, the key comes up a lot more sluggishly than others
Unsure if this video gets it across well
okay, so according to that video i only need to take out the one switch, not all of them
i can do that to investigate the stabilizer
It looks like the Backspace key may be of been injected too much grease. It's hard to say, but it definitely sounds more muted than the spacebar.
To explain, the stabilizers receive grease from the manufacturing process, which helps avoid that pingy sound you hear when the plastic hits the metal wire you can hear it a bit more with the spacebar
can compare it with other stabilizer to iff there is a differences
Might be just pressing the Switch Alot can even it out and fix the issue
- Just a theory
yeah i did notice over the period of this troubleshooting, it has stopped sticking at the point where it registers the inputs
it still feels off, but it doesn't actively cause trouble
i will insert all other stabilized keys to see
to compare the feel across all of them
if this is just a case of excessive lubrication, i could clean it out a little bit or spread it
i would press the switch a bit more just incase may take a pressing 30-40 times can save you removing the stabilizer
but if you do take it apart try not to remove to much to avoid that scratch/pingy noise if that matters to you
i did notice another key exhibiting the same behavior, the shift under the enter
yeah, that's my plan, i will just insert all stabilized keys and press each one a a few dozen times
👍
alright, @daring path thanks for the help/assistance. It seems like the issue was just excessive lube. I picked out some of the visible lube with a flat-head screwdriver as well as pressed the keys a bunch and now, while the vibe of pressing them isnt the same as all other keys, they no longer stay down and cause errenous inputs. Thanks for the help!
No problem 🙂
Hope you enjoy the keyboard
Do note that I have also written to email support, not knowing that I can just ask here first, so if it will help ease the burden, I can dm you my order number to close the ticket (not really comfortable sharing an order number in a public server)
you can follow up the email by replying to the sent one saying
- this ticket has been resolved
Order numbers are fine only staff can use this info
courier tracking number / bank information less so....
I have done so, thanks again for the help and patience 😄
