For context I had a Ducky One 2 SF that included this functionality. When doing shift and esc, a tilde (~) would be printed.
I also saw some qmk posts related to this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/olkb/comments/axswwx/help_qmk_question_shift_esc_tilde/
This should be possible on the 60he keyboard right?
Documentation for QMK Firmware
no this is a special qmk key that doesnt actually exist
Understandable. Is there any way to mimic its functionality or for a similar feature to eventually get implemented? This is a pretty important key for me.
Is the 60he MCU not powerful enough or is there some other issue?
its more than powerful enough
but historically we tried to adhere to as much of the HID spec as possible including that shift+esc should send shift+esc to your pc
not shift+~ instead
shift + `*
makes sense yes, sadly its causing limitations in the features of the keyboard :(
like i said this is historically
we are making some major changes to how we do keyboard stuff with wootility v5 and the 80he
and maybe also do some other changes
but no promises
Thanks for this info, I will be looking forward to the wootility v5 beta / release. All good if the feature isn't there tho - I understand it's originally not a feature which would be considered in your wootility featureset
Might be a dumb question but how do you currently access the tilde key? Just ordered a 60he and I use Linux a lot for coding and was curious about your binding situation
Yeah I'm a Linux user too. By default it can be accessed on the US layout with FN1 + Shift + Esc.
As a workaround method to get tilde under a 2 key combo instead of a 3 key, I binded Tab on my FN Layer 1 to DKS with L-Shift and Backtick (`). This allows me to access tilde with fn1 + tab.
DKS setup here.
shiii alr ima try that too hahahaha tysm
no problem. It works better than you'd think. Still not exactly what I wanted (shift + esc), but close enough that I can be happy :)
i'll let you no how it goes when i get it in a few days hahahhaha
@raven sinew Could you help me set up things with the wooting? Just got mine today and I am a little confused as to how to create mappings sand profiles?
Yeah so like how exactly do the profiles work? I'm a little confused about profile switching? I'm assuming its activated by holding down the fn key?
Starting looking at the function remappings asnd I realized that tilde doesn't show up either???
I only see backtick
nvm i figured it out hahahaha
sorry mb
profiles aren't related to the fn layers.
lol yeah it was a litrle confusing for me at first too lol
glad u got it figured out
Yeah hahahaha
Is it okay if I dm you if I have anymore questions in the following weeks/days?
be smart about it, use mod tap for that like i do
tap and it's ~, hold for 0.25 sec and it's esc
Sure
Dks works better for me, more seamless
hey there! I know you said no promises, but wootility v5 is out and stuff now, wondering if theres still a possibility for it to ever get implemented or if its out of the question for now :)
thanks so much!
