I updated my wooting to the latest firmare (2.8.1) and noticed some weird issues earlier today. I am currently using the kbdfans switch pad, as well as the included wooting poron foam from my original assembly. When I updated the firmware earlier today, I noticed I was having issues with certain keys that wouldn't actuate anymore when set to 4.0 (they had worked previously with this setup), and was having issues in game with games such as valorant where when holding the D key, I couldn't walk right continuously. I tried some different setups, including removing the switch pad, tightening the screws as evenly as possible, etc. which improved it but didn't completely remedy the problems. I reverted the firmware (back to 2.7.2) and noticed that the problem seemed to be completely fixed. I am also now able to use the switch pad again without any issues. In game inputs work fine, rapid trigger works fine, and setting keys to 4.0mm works fine as well. I'm not sure what the reason for this is, but it seems interesting. I will try to recreate the issue and get a video to help.

Just strafing back and forth here, d key stutters and doesn't work properly
When I revert the firmware the x key works when set to 4.0
And in game movement is the same as always
This sounds like a bit of a tricky case as it could be a few points to consider
To start would try to narrow i t down to see where the problem lies For example
Keyboard > System > Game
Checking the keyboard
you can enable the RGB effect "RT-Display" and this will show when the switch is detected as pressed Gree and red on release
To Enable the RGB effect “RT-Display” you can use one of the Two Methods
Method one:
importing the already created "(Test Profile) RT-Display" profile into wootility
- Copy the Code: d1c508f2450941b50a9c33b0468d5a20b5bc
- Click the "Import Profile" Button which can be found on the left side of wootility
- Select the newly imported Profile
Method Two:
To manually create or enable the effect, you can do the following:
- Select the "Color" Tab
- Under Effect layers, add or change the current effect to RT-Display
- For better visibility set Base Brightness to 0%
Example image
**Checking the system **
Try to see if the key is detected out of the game i recommend the site https://config.qmk.fm/#/test
and see if the if the switchs works
The game or other games
If the problem is isolated to just the game or games and the other steps seem fine, then it is a bit odd as to why it would treat the keyboard differently depending on the current firmware.
To help narrow it down further:
- Could you see if it happens on other games as well?
- Disable all other applications except for just the game (to check if it is a combination of a background application and the game).
QMK Configurator is an online tool used for easily creating firmware files for keyboards supported in qmk_firmware
When I have the new firmware installed my x key doesn’t get recognized, but the rt display works on my rt enabled keys atleast in wooting. In game I am having some stuttering issues mostly with the d key.
When I revert the firmware my x key works again, and my rapid trigger also works fine in wootility. I don’t use rapid trigger in any other games than valorant so haven’t tested other games.
Also when I test with the new firmware in qmk my x key isn’t recognized when set to 4.0mm, however when the firmware is reverted it is recognized with all the same settings and keyboard hardware etc
To have a better understanding of the keyboard's analog sensors in can you Download and run the "Wooting-Analog-Monitor" software
Please note that this software is still in development and doesn't have a certificate and may trigger a warning from windows
- you can Download the software from #1196768306602983494 message.
- Once downloaded click on “wooting-analog-monitor.exe”
- If you receive a notification that you are missing the "Wooting Analog SDK," you can download and install this software from our GitHub:
https://github.com/WootingKb/wooting-analog-sdk/releases
For Windows users, this will require the installation of wooting_analog_sdk-0.7.5-x86_64.msi
Â
Once installed try running the “wooting-analog-monitor.exe” again.
- Once the monitor software is running can you check for the behavior below and press the [Save Plot] to take Screenshots.
Pressing the Switch to the bottom
Hmm interesting...
the x key also failed to register with the new firmware
but the b is continuously inputting for some reason
old firmware again
Thanks for the information 🙂
i have passed it along
no problem thanks for your help
here is what it is doing with the beta firmware that just came out
no issues with uniniatiated inputs, but despite all the keys being set to 2.0mm in this digital profile they aren't all acting the same
new firmware in my analog profile seems to be inputting the minus key whenever I hit a wasd key which are the rapid trigger enabled keys
Is there anyway to revert back from the beta firmware? I can't seem to find the option
Settings > Updates > (mouse curser over) My Devices > revert back
you can use the older stable verison to revert back in that case
how do I do that
If you have the application version
same steps as above
for web :L https://wootility.io
there is no option to revert like there was previously tho
even with placing the mouse curser over the My device area?
yes
let me update again one sec
Note:
https://beta.wootility.io/ : no revert back option.
Stable Version "App: no revert back option
Stable Version "Browser': no revert back option
I did a reset and it didn't appear and I also restarted my PC and no fix
A work around would be to use the stable version
and preform a Restore to 2.8.1
then go to the "my Devices" and revert back
I don't know how to get back to the stable version
if I don't have a revert option at all right now
let me write up a guide one sec
thank you
Before you start make duplicate of the profiles you wish to keep
- Lunch the https://wootility.io/
- Settings
- Troubleshoot
- Select device / layout
- place keyboard into "wooting Restore" with provided guide in troubleshoot
- hit "Reset device"
- This will flash to the current firmware 2.8.1
- Then go to Settings
- updates
- My devices
9 Revert back
i think i have all the steps
there we go I got it
the firmware didn't finish flashing the first time I tried I believe, thank you again
No problem with that i am heading to bed 5:22am
Thanks again for the Troubleshooting & Data Above
no problem
Can't revert back and my keyboard is not being recognized and it's not even a day old.
Try following the reset options on wootilty I had to do that before
I've tried that as well and no luck
