Because where is the thread

Does the MCU that allow for 8KHz scanning and polling get hot?

Is this the same MCU that's on the other ARM based boards (ie. 60HE ARM) if so, why can't those go to 8k and this can (I'm assuming it's something to do with the multiplexing units)? Unless the MCU is different in which case, why change it?

Sounds really neat šŸ‘€

Will 60he have this?

I’d expect a 60HE+ revision though. Maybe a year or so after the 80HE releases.

1k polling is still super good

#

8k polling is of course a little better, but not a dealbreaker imo

seriously, if anyone would notice a difference between 1k and 8k... the input delay makes anything beyond 1k pretty much worthless using

A baby cries when the parent reacts as if the baby was hurt, even though it isn’t hurt at all. How can someone perform optimally when all they can think of is ā€œthis keyboard is 0.9ms slower than the competition’sā€. šŸ˜‰

Calling 1k polling ā€œunusableā€ is quite a drastic exaggeration

8K polling is not noticable

keep this in mind, 1k polling rate means the keyboard sends the data about inputs about every millisecond, or a thousandth of a second, and cutting that down to about ~0.125 ms is pretty much negligible because the majority of the input delay in either case is made up of input processing by the system

#

the difference is so small you will have to genuinely look at it from the point of statistics and slo-mo recordings to even tell that the input happened "sooner"

What is the difference between the 60he and the 60he+??

When the 60he+ is as much in stock as the 60he, it will replace the 60he. It also supports more layouts.

#

But yeah, not much difference except something that some keyboard modders care about :)

#

Also in the US the stock for the 60he is empty, so you only have the option to choose the 60he+ now

Do it
even if it's just to satisfy the people that do direct comparisons

As you know, big numbers good for comparing

#

wait true 8k polling would be a step over

#

false 8k polling?

robust pond
#

Yeah. 8KHz polling big brands use is 8KHz polling but only 2-4KHz scanning. So it’s quite useless. The 80HE will have 8KHz polling AND scanning. šŸ˜Ž

It would seem so as I don’t recall seeing a separate usb controller on the current arm boards - but I might be wrong here as I only really googled the mcu itself to see its capabilities so I might have overlooked some chip, I however woudlnt expect there to currently be a separate usb chip.

If it matters a lot to you, you could always sell your 60HE and get a 80HE.
