#Wooting 60he no longer gets power from any cables (including the stock one)

I’ve been having issues with my 60he since I first turned it on like 5 days ago, from keys setting off randomly to firmware issues.

I’ve tried literally everything anyone has mentioned. Resetting the board (a normal reset and factory), swapping the switches that were bugging out with the spares (then more started to wig out) and my config would just change randomly, with the RGB settings not saving, even after schizo-staring at the “Save To Keyboard” button.

Now, after updating to the most recent wootility version, the keyboard no longer powers on.

Am I just really unlucky or something?

Can you check what state the keyboard is in you can do this In windows by going to "Bluetooth & devices" and check if the keyboard is listed can you tell what shows up

  • Wooting (60HE / Two HE) Arm
  • Wooting Restore
  • (No Wooting device listed)

but the keyboard isn’t on, nor connected to wootility

It's best to prioritize getting the keyboard out of 'wooting Restore' before addressing the other issues and checking if the 'restore/update' fixes the issues.

For reference, when the keyboard is detected as 'wooting Restore,' it most likely indicates a problem with the keyboard's firmware, preventing it from booting up and awaiting flashing with working firmware (restore). It's probable that the keyboard was corrupted during the update.

As mentioned in the post above, directly plugging it into the back of the PC motherboard and attempting to use the stock cable or other cables can be helpful in troubleshooting and identifying the possible reasons for the keyboard's issues during the restore process.

I would also suggest trying

  1. If you are using the web version of "wootility" to download/install the Wootility application, and use that and attempt the restore process again.

  2. Try using another port on the motherboard and attempt a restore again, if possible, one that is further away from the currently in-use USB port.

  3. If that doesn't resolve the problem, next, I would try using another computer to attempt to restore the keyboard.

I’ve tried all of those now, and nothing has happened

#

see it’s not even turning on the keyboard

#

it’s appearing as wooting restore but the board itself is inoperable

glad citrus
#

The keyboard wont have RGB or registers any Key press inputs while it is in "wooting Restore"

but just to check when you said that "I’ve tried all of those "
that the steps (1. 2. 3 ) did not work including attempting to restore on anouther computer

yes

wooden island
#

this only happened after waiting for the latest firmware update to finish, and then wootility crashed and it hasn’t turned on since

#

and to be specific, this was maybe 8-10 minutes

Just to check, with regards to the first post, before the keyboard was stuck in 'wooting Restore,' did the keyboard press random buttons?

wooden island
#

not random in a traditional sense but yes

#

It would be basically the top right of the board and left ctrl

glad citrus
#

was it more isolated to the Right side of the keyboard
backspace
enter
ctl etc

wooden island
#

yes

#

I know that a couple will flash during calibration

#

and I picked up on that

#

but I’d be like, typing out a message and it would just have a seizure

This may be an indicator of a faulty component, namely the one of the few Mux (multiplexer), that handles sending the current state of the keys to the main microcontroller.

If the keys (Backspace) + (Right Ctrl) are being pressed on startup, it will force the keyboard into 'wooting restore. and that would explain even after preforming a restore it dose not leave the leave the state

wooden island

is there anything immediate i can do to fix that?

If this is the result of a faulty component failing, the only repair option would be to replace it with a working one. However, this would involve removing the water resistance coating and soldering, which would void the warranty.

You will need to contact Wooting at the email address provided.
social@wooting.io
To request a warranty replacement, which will involve returning the product, once it is returned, a replacement will be sent, as per my understanding.

To help speed up the process, you can include the text below. This will help Wooting staff get up to speed, so you won't need to exchange multiple emails.

Model: Wooting 60HE

Problem:
- Keyboard would press random buttons namely around the Right side
- After a Wootility Update keyboard would not leave Restore mode

Attempted:
- Stock USB cable + other USB cables
- Attempted different motherboard USB ports
- Plugged directly into the Motherboard
- wootility Reset
- Wootility Restore Attempted on two computers (get stuck at Stage 6)

Notes:
using Downloaded application of wootility

Untamedx2 notes
i believe this may be a result of a Faulty Multiplexer and wont leave "wooting restore" mode as the multiplexer may be Pressing keys on keyboard initialize.

stuck at step 6, and then it quit out of wootility

glad citrus
#

thanks just had to double check
i still believe it is the previous issue

wooden island
#

it would make sense, but the fix involves it being available in some manner, correct?

#

because in terms of accessing any feature from the keyboard itself I am shit out of luck

glad citrus

Finished the summary
you can include the text above for the email

wooden island
#

thanks

glad citrus
#

as for a repair it would be removing and replacing this component

wooden island
#

I can probably guess why that’s faulty then

#

Australian shipping companies do not care about fragility

#

it’s whatever though I’ll either get it replaced or whatever else and use a diff board

glad citrus
#

Also, keep in mind that this is my theory, and it may not be a faulty multiplexer. It's hard to confirm without testing with equipment, but I am pretty confident it may be.

just unlucky that I had such a specific problem that couldn’t be solved easily

I should note that Wooting has a reserve stock of keyboards in case of:

  • Lost in shipping
  • Warranty replacement
  • Etc.
So you won't need to wait for the next batch.
