from my understanding
you switched out the default L60 switch's
and replaced them with the L45
had problem that is "sticky"
and tried another switch
but the key is still 'Sticky"
is that accurate ?
also regarding sticky
what do you mean
inputs dont trigger
keycap doesn't get stuck/up down ?
other?
Yes, and actually from the default l60 switch’s, the key is still a little bit sticky, which means, when I press the key down, it feels like a little bit glue on the switch, it definitely take more time to let key go up compare to others, the key is working, no problem, just the feel when I press down
I checked Keycaps is fine
as you have tested another L45 switch's i assume that the stabilizers for the Shift key may have higher resistance witch could be an issue
not sure just a guess in the dark
if you have a look up on the stabilizer is there anything that stands out like something between the the stabilizer plastic
(there would be Blob of grease that's normal)
not sure myself
only thing left i can think is to try and raise/lower the stabilizer with tweezers to see if it is hard to move compared to another set
and the right control key is very smooth lol
bc the left control which i will use a lot in the game
the ctrl doesn't have a stabilizers to compare
so if the problem its the right one, i will just ignore that
yea i will try that, i also contact the wooting team, see if they can do repair or not
thank you
Is the switch itself smooth with no keycap on?
nope, the only time the switch smooth is not installed on the pcb
is there anything resting on the PCBA between the switch?
Sounds like a bad switch. I'd swap it with another and see if that resolves it, and then go from there.
nope. i didnt see anything between them
yea, i did try other l45, and i even put the l60 back on, it still not fixed
its not like super sticky, but i can feel its not smooth compare to other key
is it possible the problem is on the pcb
With just the switch?
The switch has ZERO connection to anything. If the switch itself feels odd, the issue has to be in the switch.
no, the switch itself feels smooth
only thing i can think of is that the magnet is sticking to the PCBA but dosnt have anything that would stick to it there
just when i install it on the pcb
yes!
That's not how the switches work though.
as mansen said it would require the switch connecting to a ferrous material causing the switch to stick to the PCBA as my understanding the there would be nothing like that
on the PCBA and any screw/metals are not close enough to effect it in that way
besides possible Glue or something Witch would also should not be there
maybe a bit of factory lube but that can be wiped off from the pcb
Gotta figure out what's causing friction.
I'd recommend screwing the PCBA and put a switch on and keycap.
If it's still grinding without the case, and with several switches I can't think of any other cause than keycaps touching.
Sure I will try that later, and I also try to grab one of my friends Keycaps to see if the problem still there
Also does the wooting offers repair?
Repairs? No, Spareparts if we can figure out what's wrong? Yes.
