Much likely an uneven apply of lube. Otherwise you would need to remove the stabs and inspect them.

In the case there is an issue with a part you can rule it down by using a stab from another key.

You didn't mentioned that you lubed it again. The stabs come already prelubed.
So it was like that the moment you got the keyboard and after lubing it again?

Regardless, I already described what can be done in order to figure out what the problem is.

I had looked at the stabs when I lubed the thing, they were fine and symmetrical

There is at least a second stab on the board. You can use these parts where you know they are good to check what is wrong on the space bar.
It's likely either the left, the right or the metal bar.

For example use the stabs from the enter key. If the problem is gone you would need to check if the original left or right one causes it.

In the case they are all the same it would be likely the metal bar. Then you can still flip it, while it's harder to keep track if the sound also moves accordingly or if that is unchanged for the sides.
