#Plugging in my Wooting 60HE spams my PC with apps until the PC freezes or gets BSOD

After turning on my pc everything was functioning normally. Suddenly my Wooting kb's RGB turned into an orange and then started spamming my pc by opening all my apps on my taskbar and also opening tabs to microsoft office, one drive etc. on my web browser to the point that my PC would freeze. Now the keyboard has some blue and green rbg and the buttons that I pressed are permanently red. And if I plug it back in it continues to spam my entire pc.

I've already checked for malware and it nothing shows up. When the keyboard is unplugged, none of those issues occur.
I checked wootility and saw nothing change on my keyboard settings despite the RGB colors being completely different (I only used a light blue color prior to all this)
I've tried doing the restore method on wootility which didn't work. As soon as the keyboard was plugged in, it started spamming again. The RGB colors however did return to the factory default.

For more context, I have not done any modding on the keyboard and I never took it apart. This was also after a windows update which happened last night. I don't use any profiles besides the typing profile and Tachyon mode and rapid trigger are enabled. I don't use analog inputs (gamepad input I'm guessing)

I really hope my Wooting keyboard isn't faulty but I'm running out of solutions. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Replug and wait 10 seconds before pressing any keys

#

You can also try lowering brightness

I tried that but the keyboard spams regardless if I press keys or not
Sadly lowering brightness made no difference

One thing of note is when trying the restore function on wootility
It jumps to the mixed movement profile and sits there doing nothing
If I switch back to the typing profile via wootility, it starts doing the spamming again

I also noticed that the ] key and caps key are flashing white when this happens

So you aren't using some kbm switch or USB hub?

#

It's plugged directly into the computer right?

copper temple
#

yes

tidal shore
#

You're using the stock cable right?

copper temple
#

yeah

tidal shore
#

That's odd

#

Is it plugged in the back or the top near the power button

copper temple
#

in the back

tidal shore
#

That's very odd

copper temple
#

yeah I'm stumped. That's why I came here to ask for help

#

it was functioning perfectly fine before all of this
I can't tell if it's coincidence that it happened after the windows update

tidal shore
#

What else did you do when you updated your windows

copper temple
#

nothing outside of the usual

tidal shore
#

I'ma have to hand this over to mansen lmao

just chatting on discord and watching youtube
I was playing a mobile game when it happened. It all just happened on its own and got me worried thinking it was malware but apparently not

#

thanks for trying to help tho, I appreciate it

Something isn't giving the keyboard enough power

#

Did you try a different machine?

copper temple
#

I'll try that now

#

I just tested it on my bro's pc and it functioned like normal
so this is only an issue on my pc

tidal shore
#

Hmm that's very odd

#

Well atleast we got the easy things out of the way

#

might be that for whatever reason your PSU cant provide stable USB power rails

copper temple
#

I've tried lowering the brightness but it's not making a difference
even at 0-10% it's still spamming my PC

#

ok turning off Tachyon mode in combination with lowering the brightness to 0% has fixed it

#

this is so strange because before all of this
I was able to use my Wooting at 100% brightness with Tachyon mode turned on
well this gives me another reason to change my PSU
Thank you guys for all help!

#

ok nevermind that was a very scuffed fix
when I try switching profiles to use other keys like the F keys, it goes back to the spamming and switching profiles

#

i mean a cheap solution can also be using a powered usb hub

#

can be 2.0 for all the keyboard cares

#

that way it doesnt rely on motherboard power

#

considerably cheaper than replacing a psu aswell

#

id guesstimate 25-30bucks

copper temple
#

yeah I think I'll try that
